Just watched the VTTV show, and there was a lot of discussion in chat about ECCA.
It would be nice if they promoted themselves in the forums, if they want consumers to sign up. Lets face it, as Dave Dorn and many others said. Most members with under 6 months of ecig use, have never even heard of them.

I signed up around the same time, and didnt even get an acknowledgement from them.
I told Russell Ord that i`ll contact him tomorrow for a chat, as he seems to be clued up on their activities. Just a shame they dont try and push their own product.

I even posted on a thread they did asking for support. I said that even though i am disabled i am happy to help them out in anyway i can. Again... nothing. Why bother i say. ???

From what I could understand by watching the chat on VTTV tonight. They only have 2 people involved in ECCA, and it is purely a part-time occupation.
I can understand how hard it is to rally support with such a small group of people. I guess they must feel like they are between a rock and a hard place.

I think two things need to happen here: 1 the committee needs to push itself forward, take time to contact people, discuss what's going on, reply to people who join etc and if they have no time maybe step down and let fresh blood take their places 2 e cig consumers need to show more support, get behind them, offer help if we have the time or support them as and when they post on forums etc.
I think the main thing they need is discussion on from both sides, guidance on what we want them to do for us and discussion and action on achieving that.
I also think the website needs a total overhaul to make it more welcoming to visitors.
I was also in chat tonight, but have just realised I still don't know exactly who they are or what they're supposed to do. They need to bring themselves forward, to be a lot more proactive.
Brian, I understood it from chat that there were more than two people but only two of them were well known.

I believe that these people were elected onto the committee by the AGM attendees at Vapefest 2011;
Chair: Sam Munro Vice Chair: Dave Hook (Westcoast2 - no longer active) Secretary: Chris Price (Rolygate) Treasurer: Tim Boniface (tim21080 - no longer in the post)
Forum Reps; AAE-C: Jemima ECR: Fiona UKV1: AcousticVillage ECF: Wasn't filled at the time, various people have come and gone.
I hope this helps.
Russell

I don't want to say this for any other reason other than to be devil's advocate, but hands up how many of us have ever joined a consumers' association for any other product we buy or use? And when DO people join a consumers' association? Usually when something goes badly, horribly wrong with a product they own or a service they have been let down by.
There is a certain amount of talk, and some sound insight and knowledge from some, about what is likely to happen should there eventually be regulation of electronic cigarettes and the industry that supports vaping. Some are worried, some don't know whether to be worried or not, some are convinced that Big Pharma and Big Tobacco want to ruin it for everyone. Most of us, if we are honest, don't have a clue.
However, human nature being what it is, I suspect the majority of people are happy to carry on doing what they are doing and won't actually be bothered until they are presented with the possibility of vaping being regulated, becoming more expensive, or in certain circumstances being banned.
It's a sad fact that when there's no real reason to join in and get involved, people can't be bothered.
As an aside, and I speak from a little bit of experience, when there was a thread on here about a radio programme looking for volunteer vapers, and a link to the ECCA forum was provided, I posted that I couldn't see the link without joining the forum. I was rapped on the knuckles by a couple of people who couldn't fathom why anyone wouldn't want to join such a worthy organisation and its forum. What they overlooked was the fact that the more hoops you make people jump through to reach you, the less inclined they are to jump.
I have no doubt that much of what I've just said will be about as welcome as a S*** sandwich, but that's the way it usually is, I'm afraid.

Sorry if my post wasn't what you were looking for. I'd perhaps be better off not bothering. I just thought that when you said "tell us your views" you might have meant it. My bad.
