Thank you Furbie At last, first-hand feedback from one of us! The first thing that attracted me to the ebook idea was seeing how cheap the books are - and classics for free It's a "considered purchase" tho, for me, until the price goes down. scylla

I wouldnt mind ebooks replacing paperbacks , as there disposable , in fact when they first came out , people didnt bother with bookmarks , they just ripped out each page they had read & throw it away !!!
And really its the words that are important , not the media that carries them !

Im getting a Kindle this weekend Really looking forward to it. Its a gift by the way Already bought a case from Tuff Luv. It's not like reading off a monitor screen, its not backlit. It's supposed to look like the page of a book. Reasons for getting one are that Im fed up with books everywhere, you need so much space (I read a lot) Free books, newspapers and blogs of course, and being able to have the book to read in a matter of minutes. I can still buy and read paper books if I want as well. I see it as a very good thing Just hope I like it lol Im sure I will.

I go through phases of reading a certain genre and move on to something else. So nothing in particular. With the Kindle im hoping to discover a lot more writers and genres. Theres also a lot of indie writers producing stuff on e-book, some terrible from what i've heard but some gems as well. The Kindle forum I found is massive, so plenty of books to find. I'll be looking at the 99p and under things first

My favourite author is James Patterson, the Alex Cross books. I found on the kindle thriller forum an author recommended for JP fans. It's Conrad Jones. The real books are over £8 but to buy for kindle they are 89p. How good is that. I also loved Greg Hurwitz, authors i would never have found if i hadn't browsed the kindle forum. Enjoy your new kindle, and keep us updated. x

Hi furball, which forum do you read. I've read some of kindle boards, looks like the biggest place. Looked at a UK one but its pretty small. Just wondered if theres any other decent ones.

Hi Vaped, i usually go to the uk amazon site then go to the kindle forum on there. I don't post i just type in search what i need to find ie james patterson or crime thrillers but i make sure i have the all forums box ticked. There are hundreds of sub forums on the amazon kindle site so i can usually find something interesting, if a book sounds good i go back to the amazon site and read the reviews. I find that most sites anywhere have some sort of kindle discussion. There is one on the Martin Lewis site. I am a member of a chicken forum and they also have a kindle discussion page. If you just want book reviews any bookclub will have loads of books you can check out, mostly i find a book i enjoyed and see who read that and which others they recommend. Happy searching. If you get stuck just type in google authors like james patterson (insert your favourite author) and you will find others recommended. HTH

Oh and there are loads of authors on the kindle forum that plug their own books but i don't bother with them. Be careful with the top 100 books as a lot are by self plugging authors.
