I am wondering about what is said in this video.
It is about 15 minutes long and between 10 and 13 minutes he is talking about e-juice strength for those that are coming off cigarettes and going onto e-cigs.
Now I do understand what he is saying, but I am concerned about advising newbies to use 36 or 45mg e-juice. I know from other videos that this guy has made, that he himsilf uses 45mg juice, but I was under the impression that it depended on how mony cigarettes one smoked that would determine what strength of e-juice you used in your initial change over period and this guy is the only person I have come across who recommended anyone using e-juice of 45mg.
Having smoked 40 fags a day for rather a long time, 24mg is as high as I need to go and I think that anything higher would set my head spinning.
How do other feel about the advice given in this video, keeping on mind that it is primarily aimed at the newbie.

Does seem a very strong nic content for a beginner to vaping. I'd probably be worried that there was a risk of putting people off if they had some of the more typical reactions to the higher strengths. Thus far I've only ever used 18mg or thereabouts, but have 1 sample bottle on order at 24mg to see what the difference is as I'm definitely vaping more often than I smoked. Don't really see that as a problem btw, just curious to see if it makes a difference.

id say majority of smokers get on fine with 24mg max, perhaps 36mg in extremes ,say a 60-80 day smoker but to actually recommend 45mg to newbies is not right,id say 24mg is the best starting point myself

I used to smoke 25 - 30 Mayfair full strength a day. I am perfectly happy on 18mg juice. I agree with Andy 24mg should be the max really. No way would I even attempt 45!! But, each to their own i guess.

I started on 24mg with my VIP kit but moved up to 36mg when I started buying liquids now down to 15 to 18mg. Dave

i was very sceptical by this too but over the past few months i have heard of quite a few that have tried and have been impressed.... their vaping mimics smoking so much closer where they can have a few puffs and be 'satisfied' for longer
personally i wont be changing as i enjoy my flavours too much but for a newby to vaping it may well be the way to go

I started out at 18mg and really struggled, was ever on the quest for a mod that would give me the big throathit I was missing, (ex pipe, cigar and rollie smoker) and I was vaping continuously all day every day.
I too thought stronger juice would set me spinning but when I tried it I found what I was missing, a nic hit that rivalled the pipes and cigars.
I currently don't bother with anything below 24mg, my all day vapes are 30 to 36mg and when I feel the need to squeeze someone's brains out of their ears I have some 45mg byte extra stuff that really hits the spot.
I now vape like I used to smoke, I pick it up and use it, get what i need and then put it back down and get on with the rest of my life, using high strength juice I can get a day out of an 18350 battery and even a cig-a-like can hit hard enough for me to be happy with it.
Don't panic or worry about the strength of juice, your body will tell you when you have had enough, if you ignore what your body is telling though then that means you lack a bit of intelligence and shouldn't be allowed out on your own.

Wawo, Lunerdog, Your the first I have heard of anyone using that high a juice, other than the guy on the video.
While I might make up a 36mg just to try it, I still would not recommend it to newbies.
Nico strength I feel is something that should be treated with the greatest of respect and should only be increased very gradually by newbies until they themselves feel that they have found the right strength for themselves.

I would just like to say I agree with lunerdog. I too came from smoking cigs, cigars and finally a pipe, inhaling even from my pipe. I started vaping at 24mg but still, I was looking for a bigger throat hit. For me the throat hit is the be all and end all so I have increased my nic to 30/32mg. I find that anything less than 24mg feels that I am only taking in fresh air which in turn tends to make me want to chain vape, taking 10 or 12 vapes in quick succession just to try and get a throat hit. I tend to vape similar to the way I smoked my pipe, that is to take 2,3 or 4 draws over about 1 minute then put it down until I need another draw. I only get through a max of 2mls per day. I would not advise a new vaper who perhaps has been used to Silk Cut Lights, to try anything over 24mg but for people coming over to vaping from cigars or a pipe could well be put off by the lack of throat hit. I know that you should not inhale the smoke from cigars or pipes but I suspect that like me, most of those people who have gone from cigs to cigars or a pipe, will inhale and be used to a big throat hit.

I do remember a month or two back, there was a survey of vaping strengths done here, though not sure where now. If I remeber correctly the most of the vapers were on the 18 to 24mg mark with very few any higher. I wish I could remember where it was. Anyone know?

I started on 5 mg. I once bought a 10 mg to try it. I've just mixed my own 0 mg. I have a feeling I'd pass out if I tried 45 mg. I've smoked for most of my life, and as I used to work for a tobacco company, I've smoked all sorts. Really, ALL sorts. Even the thought of a 45mg juice makes me feel vaguely nauseous.

Even the thought of a 45mg juice makes me feel vaguely nauseous. It's not so bad actually . . . I tried some of HiFi's 45mg RY5 ( I think ) at a Mini Meet, yes it was a powerful hit, more like as Luner said the hit you get from a tobacco cigarette. Certainly I knew that I'd had a few tokes on it . . . long term, not for me as I like to continuously chug on a few yummy flavours all day, given half the chance. Pete of Decadent Vapours, to the best of my knowledge, uses 72mg as his daily/regular strength . . . . .

Bear in mind that the way you absorb nicotine from smoking and vaping is different, ie that you absorb nicotine at a faster rate from smoking than you do from vaping.
An inhale on a good cigar or a pipe bowl full of Dutch Shag will clout you harder than any 45mg juice and for those of us who were used to that sort of hit then only a strong juice will do.
Remember that noobs to vaping aren't noobs to nicotine and that your own experiences will not necessarily match the experiences of others, it all depends on what type of smoker you were.

OK, I have been scratching my head here. I am intrigued. How is the absorption of nicotine between smoking and vaping different? As far as I can work out we are all inhaling it into our lungs. So what happens inside the lung to make it different?
