Hello! from a newbie and a few questions

Hi there all, newbie here!
I have a few questions, so bear with me lol.

I have been toying with the idea of the elec ciggy for a while, so decided the other day to try the nicolites disposable one to give it a go and see if it was for me or not.
When I read the ingredients, I was a little warey as it contains Propylene Glycol which I'm sure is also in anti freeze!
I am trying to find out how safe these really are before I use it as I have heard users have severe sore throats and pains in their chest after use, so all info would be appreciated before I actually use my ciggy.

Hello & a warm welcome from me Nell . . . you'll find any number of 'alarmist' statements about PG and VG ( Vegetable Glycerine ) which is also used in ejuice.

Some vapers do find they have reactions to either PG or VG, but that can be said of so many other products we all use, the vast majority of vapers suffer no ill effects whatsoever . . both PG and VG are also used in soaps and many beauty products to name but a couple.

The only side effect I've had from vaping for nearly a year now . . . is the fact I feel 100% better then when I did chucking 40/50 cigs a day down my throat . . . . I've just recently had a cold . . . instead of the month plus of coughing & hacking, subsequent chest infection, I shook it off in 10 days. Says it all for me.

Don't waste any more time angsting, get vaping!

Thanks for that info hunni. What causes the sore throats tho, and does it subside with more consistent use?

Never had a sore throat with vaping Nell and I chain vape when I can, as with many things, I'd suggest some people are a little more 'precious' than others.

I'm getting to almost 30/day fag habit some days and thought this will be the better option for me as despite being a smoker I despise the smell it leaves in my home, and the taste makes me gag ( I can only smoke when Im eating a sweet or drinking coffee) Mad I know! lol
I'm off to try my disposable right now, I will let you know how I get on in an hour lol

Hi Nell,i would just like to say that the disposable is not a patch on the e cigs most people vape on.My daughter had one of those and found it to be awful so please dont be put off if you dont like it,if you do thats great,if not these lovely people on here will send you in the right direction.

Here is my log so far lol......

8pm-Well I have given it a try, it is very heavy to hold.
I took a long deep drag like I do with my ciggys and I started to cough, there is no flavour from it but I sure got a good throat hit!

8:05-I'm an asthmatic and had to take a puff of my inhaler as my chest feels really tight


8:10- 15 drags later I didn't feel any satisfaction from it. and still really feel like I need a ciggy and its meant to be high strength

8:15- just lit up a ciggy, as above felt no satisfaction and still crave.
Maybe wrong device?

It is really I'm afraid to say Nell, as Netty confirms about her daughter.

I've a ex smoking friend who I've converted to vaping, who is also asthmatic, they get on famously with the Riva . . . also I/we do tend to use a slightly different technique with an ecig . . . chugging, rather than doing big draws like you do with a ciggy.

Please don't let this experience put you off.

Hi Nell and welcome, try and stick with the vaping although I do advise that you get a decent e-cig, have a look at a Riva or Ego or Tornado

That's fine, I know the disposable wouldn't be much cop as it was 6.99 from a service station! lol. But that was my 1st step to vaping I suppose.
I am taking on board all the advice I'm getting and will deffo try the one you sent on the link to me perpetua!

Hello & welcome Nell from me as well

As Perpy says, it's best not to draw on an e-cig in the same way as a real cig. With a good one, just chug on it & hold the vapour in your mouth for a second before taking it back into your throat

From what you have said about the taste of real cigs, I bet you will love something like the taste of caramel instead - one of Perpy's favourite e-lquids

Just to add to the list of things that Propylene Glycol (PG) is in - Mouth wash & some margarines, so it is a safe product. So is VG (vegetable glycerine) it's also added to many cough mixtures.
