Ideally my goal is to eventually wean myself off nicotine, having already made the transition from analogues to my Ego-T system.
My question is this - what is responsible for the smoking-esque throat hit? Is it the nicotine content of the e-liquid, the amount of VG in the blend, the amount of vapour produced or the resistance of the atomizer? Is it a combination of all these factors and if so, what do I need to change to compensate for a lower nicotine level in my juice?
I'm currently using 18mg 70/30 liquids and it's pretty similar in terms of throat hit to the old stinkies and I've had no trouble walking past ciggie counters so far but like I said I'd like to drop down to 12mg and eventually 0mg.
Thanks in advance.

You might be interested in www.flavourart.co.uk/bitextra-10ml-62-p.asp - the additive is supposed to help with the throat hit thing! I've got some juice on the way from them which I will report back on once I've tried it!

I tried cutting the nic but it didn't work - I just vaped more.
Now I'm trying vaping zero nic for the first couple of hours each day. Manage most days, but I atm I don't see me extending it.
Maybe I should try planning vape times, or periods without vaping or something.
btw what i vape at 0mg is espresso with caffeine - a PG only version of DV Doppio - so I'm taking caffeine instead of nic. Throat hit isn't bad.
I believe PG only helps, and adding alcohol, and upping the volts.
Part of the problem is that I can't get excited about giving up nicotine.

Part of the problem is that I can't get excited about giving up nicotine. Yeah, that's my worry too! I quit a while ago using patches and stepping down from 21mg patches to 14's then 7's is a 12-week process, so I'm assuming it'll be a similar length weaning off period. What I don't want is to be craving the throat hit from the nicotine, hence trying to plan ahead!

Only time I get a "throat hit" of such is first thing in the morning if I vape before a cuppa or anything. It drops off after a few draws though. I've been getting more of a TH sensation with a genesis atty, but not a great deal more. I'm vaping 18mg. I tend to get more of a throat hit with steeped tobacco flavours, like T-Juice primo verde.

What is this throat hit of which you speak? I'm not sure I ever experienced it. The highest nic I've ever vaped is 10 mg and I only bought that because someone suggested I might need it. I guess it depends on so many different things, but I've been vaping zero nic and/or 5mg (depending on whether it's my own homebrew or stuff I've bought) for the last 10 days or so, and before that it was all 5-6 mg. I've only been vaping for just under 3 months. I must be lucky, as it doesn't seem to be a problem. But then, I don't obsess about nicotine. For me, vaping was (and is) about not smoking. It's not about finding-something-that-means-I-can-still-have-nicotine. Little by little, I'm also finding I can go for long periods without even needing to vape at all. However, that really is the part I'm not stressing about. If I vape non-stop all day it really doesn't matter to me. I guess we're all different, and you have to find what's right for you and stick with it. As most people say, though, there's no shame, no harm and no problem in upping your nicotine levels if you find you're getting cravings. It's easy to drop back down or go back up, and as long as you have a couple or three nic levels to choose from, and you feel comfortable with what you're doing, then that's what's really important.

I generally find the nic level in juices seems to make a big difference to TH. my 24mg can pack quite a punch, especially first thing in the morning and if I'm dry anyway. The 18mg are smoother and easier to vape but don't have the same flavour as the 24mg.
All of this changes through the day, one moment no TH, next big and quite uncomfortable TH. May be linked to my hydration levels, not sure after only a week.

The nicotine content of the juice certainly has an effect on throathit, but for the same level of concentration the power will also have an effect, so upping voltage and/or lowering resistance (i.e increasing watts) will increase the throathit. Personally I've never been bothered about reducing my nicotine intake as I've seen no evidence that it is particularly harmful - it is all the nasty carcinogens and other chemicals given out by burning tobacco that does the real harm and I certainly feel a lot better since I packed it up - Whatever stops me from going back to smoking is good for me!

I've been vaping for over a month now, on 24mg, which suits me fine, but i accidentally order 36 mg last week and now feel "wheezy". Not sure if it's the increased level of nic, or just some withdrawal symptom from being off the smokes.
