I was sent here from ECF by Chrissie Vaping for Dummies .... is there such a book? Heck, there are xxx for Dummies on just about every possible subject (and no, xxx doesn't stand for x-rated ) Is there a Jargon buster somewhere? I'm seriously considering switching from a 30 year smoking habit to vaping. Where to start? Atomisers, vaporisers, juices, batteries, Kr808D, 24mg, kiwi, toffee ...... man, my head hurts For the past 10 years I have been rolling my own, smoking Old Holborn tobacco. Now instead of which paper to choose, I have to choose a multitude of things. Agh, as Alf Garnett used to say "That's bloody marvellous, innit!"

Hello Doc JellyBean nice to meet you, #welcome2# Many of us have switched from rollies to vaping successfully Have you looked at any kits yet? Any idea what you would like? Do you care if it's a bit bigger than a ciggie?

Welcome I was roughly where you are less than a month ago with regards to confusion and am now in vaping heaven with my Riva 1100 and a dripping atomiser. I didn't even know such things existed when I first arrived! You'll get tons of help here and be jargoning it up with the rest of us in no time flat. Good luck with giving up smoking. I'd tried everything else at least twice with no luck, but the vaping has worked like a dream and I don't even think about cigs at all now

Doctor. Sit down, have a cuppa, pull up a chair and get reading. You don't need a book, and even if one was available it wouldn't tell the REAL truth behind vaping and e-cigs. That's why Chrissie started this forum. Ask question no.1, then no.2 and maybe even no.3..... Welcome.

It has just occurred to me. As a confirmed OCD sufferer, I used to love rolling cigs. Think about it. Buy 20 ready-mades and a lighter...off you go. Nothing else to learn or mess with or have as a hobby. Get into Rollies, you've got Amber leaf, or GV, or Old Holborn, maybe a blast of cutters choice. Then you've got Rizlas or Swans or Zig-Zag then filters or whatever.....maybe some loose Cherry tobacco or Dutch mild, or a choice burley.... Vaping is as interesting as rollies maybe/possibly more so to the power of about 1,000! If you smoked just for a fag, buy a decent kit and some e-liquid and off you go. If you rolled for the other reasons (as listed above)......well......your life could change.........forever.

Thank you all @ Karma: I looked at Green Smoke (was told it's overpriced) and at Jacvapour (was told it's a bit limited). I just want something that reasonably resembles the taste of Old Holborn baccy. No, I don't want to smoke .... err vape coffee @ Everyone else: It's the terminology which confuses me, and what I need isn't very clear. I mean juices, dripping atomiser (sounds like preparation for a Saturday night out on the town). Starter kits, is that like a First Aid kit Seriously though, stuff like how long does it (whatever it is) lasts before one needs to recharge/refill, etc. I'm trying to figure out how long a starter kit lasts, compared to let's say 20 rollies or a packet of fags.

That's what I thought at first and ordered a couple of tobacco flavours with my starter kit. I was really disappointed at the flavours and then realised the taste of tobacco wasn't a great part of the smoking experience for me. I'm playing with fruit flavours at the moment, and finding it a much better experience. So don't close your mind to other flavours, give it a whirl.

Have a look at the thread I linked to help with basic terminology & for more, have a look at this thread - allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=newmembers&action=display&thread=12910As for how long anything lasts, it depends on what type of e-cig you go for & how often you use it. A ciggie lookalike will need recharging every couple of hours or so. Something larger like the ego/riva can last up to all day before needing to be recharged.

I just want something that reasonably resembles the taste of Old Holborn baccy. No, I don't want to smoke .... err vape coffee You may very well end up vaping all sorts of things - confirmed OH smokers have been known to end up vaping only Vanilla Custard Seriously though, stuff like how long does it (whatever it is) lasts before one needs to recharge/refill, etc. I'm trying to figure out how long a starter kit lasts, compared to let's say 20 rollies or a packet of fags. The starter kit I linked to above should last you a day on full charge - you get two batteries so you can have one charging while you use the other. 10ml of juice should last a couple/3 days, or more. The kit comes with clearos that take 1.6ml, will maybe need refilling once or twice a day but that's easy with these. The batteries are usually good for around 300 charges, so more than 6 months out of the batteries, you'll probably need a few more clearos in that time as they do eventually die (keep them well maintained ie clean them once or twice a week and they'll last longer) and you'll need a steady supply of juice. I've heard OK Smokey (Google him) does some of the best baccy flavours, or try our very own Frogster at The Alchemist's Cupboard for baccy juices made from real baccy.
