Although PG has been used in asthma inhalers for many years and is classed as safe does not nessesarily mean it is safe to inhale heated PG, although probably safer than inhaling the smoke from burning leaves. Dave

Too a large extent, we're guinea pigs Moonie, as vaping hasn't been around long enough for any long term clinical studies to be undertaken into the deterimental effects inhaling the substances we do, may have. All any of us can do is make a decision given the data there is currently out there. On a completely personal level, after 36years chugging away on 40/50 cigarettes a day, I do use flavours that contain some of the cautionary ingredients, although never anything oil based . . . because I enjoy them as I did smoking. That's not to say I'm blase about the risks, because I'm not . . . but it's one of the increasingly few choices I seem to be able to make for myself thesedays. So I'm sparing in my usage of them. Other Vapers may want to avoid said ingredients with a barge pole, that's their choice to make of course. We're very much guinea pigs, but as you say we can make our own decisions. I'd rather be totally safe, but won't know whether I am or not for a good few years, but I do know that I'm a damn sight safer than when I was smoking, even if I do vape the odd 'dodgy' flavour.

Dave Its also been used in hospitals in their air supply systems apprently to reduce the spread of airbourne infections, I assume it has been heated in order to become a vapour, even if its not hot when in the air. Also its used in fog/smoke machines and those definitely get hotter than our coils do.

In fog machines and air purification systems the vapour goes into the surounding atmosphere whereas we inhale straight into our lungs, probably still safer than smoking although no scientific evidence but we are old enough to make our own decisions without nanny state holding our hands.Dave

Sure there are things that you shouldnt take into your body. Vaping bleach or petrol is probably a bad idea. But there is a way to test how you will react to anything. I learned this from a survival expert whilst serving in her majesty's armed forces. And its an easy test. And its something you would have to do before ingesting anything as food.
Take the flavour you want to try and rub some on your hand. If nothing happens, rub some on the crook of your arm and wait a bit. Still no reaction, put some on your lips. Still nothing rub some on your gums. If still ok then probably is safe to ingest.
The gums and mouth is the most sensitive parts of the body. If you can stand it in your mouth then its fair to say that it will be ok.
But just take sensible precautions. Sure this is a leap of faith. And it will remain a leap of faith for a very long time. No one is likely to come along with a list of what you can and cannot vape. And mostly what you eat you can vape also.

Sorry Saphire, but I don't think CCW know what ia safe to vape and what isn't. They haven't said which of their flavours, if any, contain diacetyl, so I personally would seek another supplier for vanilla and custard. The gums and mouth is the most sensitive parts of the body. If you can stand it in your mouth then its fair to say that it will be ok. Trouble is MM, some things act specifically on some types of tissue, which is why Diacetyl is safe to eat but is generally regarded as unsafe to inhale in any quantity.
