Someone else was saying this to me the other day, so I know it's not just me, yet it doesn't seem to get mentioned very much, so I thought I'd see what you lovely people would say. This is NOT juice-dependent, battery-dependent, carto/clearo/atomiser dependent. It is a curse that can strike at any time. It doesn't depend on volts, watts, ohms, or any other metric or imperial measure of power, it doesn't depend on the fullness, emptiness, cleanliness, newness or any other aspect of your chosen liquid container. It's the curse of the burning carrier bag. At least, that's what it seems to taste like! You know (I bet you do) - one minute you're contentedly vaping your favourite flavour, the next minute it tastes like someone's lobbed a grenade into your mouth. And a not very pleasantly flavoured one, at that! It can strike at any time, it seems...but, like the elephant in the room, it doesn't seem to get mentioned. So, my question is: am I alone? Why does it happen? has anyone solved the mystery?

Lack of juice on the coil is the culprit here

Lack of juice on the coil is the culprit here There are other ways of burning, but for the genuine plastic burning taste, yes, dry burn a coil with a plastic cap on the top. (other ways include putting too many volts through a low res atty, drawing too long) It's not quite true to say it's battery independent - I find my black lavatube does it less, probably because it contains a circuit which limits output to 2.5 amps.

It happens to me all the time no matter what I do. Having said that, dry burning worries me because I haven't figured out how to do it and I was wondering if you had to take the little plastic thing off the top first.
But Kickit I sympathise I really do. But I do wonder if its just that some of us are more sensitive to it, whilst other people consider it a throat hit ?

It worried me at first, dry burning, once youve done it a couple of times you will be fine.
Yes, remove the plastic thing from the top and dry burn for a few seconds at a time, once the vapour stops and the coil glows red, stop and rinse and you are ready to go.

I think we're at cross purposes here. Just forget it, eh? Sorry I spoke.

Mary, no need to apologise..I was referring to the thread in general, not your post in particular.
So evidently you get a get a dry burn from a container (whatever type) that isn't even close to empty, and seconds after getting a normal draw. And from a battery that hasn't been adjusted since the draw you took a minute or so earlier. At least, that's what I'm reading into the comments that have been made. Fine, just as long as I know.

That happens to me sometimes if I draw long and hard enough on a nova on a tin mod or ego, not on my lavatube. It usually recovers if I slosh the juice about, but I tend to empty the juice back into the bottle and wash the nova.

to cut a long story short, lack of juice flow is the culprit, too much current and not enough juice = burnt taste, unless you can perfectly match both it will happen.

Fine, just as long as I know. kickit I know exactly what you mean, I get it all the time! I am enjoying a perfectly lovely vape and then the next time I take a puff it goes horrible tasting and yukky like an old ashtray taste almost.......ok not quite that bad but that ilk of yuk! I tend to wash my clearo out and that point and that gets rid of it, I have a few 10ml empty juice bottles I have washed out because it always seems to happen when I have pretty much a full clearo of juice and I am not going to throw the juice away or continue to vape it tasting horrid, so I empty the juice into a bottle and wash the clearo out like this I don't dry burn I just fill my clearo up and like the video says the first 4/5/6 vapes on it are tight with no vapour then it works perfectly again! Also I do use this method with a long wick clearo and it works fine (the youtube vid says it might not work with long wicks) edit-typos and my post made no sense before the edit

I just love that when it happens usually followed by the juice turning into dark brown treacle

Phew, thanks han78..I'm not losing the plot, then. I wash and clean out all my clearos and dry burn them on a regular basis, but usually I get the dry burn thing either (like you) when I've got plenty of juice in the clearo, or (worse still) when I'm out and about and can't just swap for another clearo or flavour.
