Got a reply today from a reputable vendor. In regard to a question about attaching home-wicked Novas/Clearos to egos. So....where does this leave me? Now, these guys don't sell posh batteries (although they sell quality Joyetech batts) But everything I've read about Twists and Spinners says they can survive a short? What about the 3-stage like VE does? www.vapeescape.co.uk/ego-variable-voltage-battery~269

Alibaba is a bloke with 40 thieves. Your ego could be a copy I guess. But you shouldn't get a short if you are careful. Got something to check it with before you connect it?

My "ego" is a Riva. I also have a Vision Spinner. (and endless E-Lites and JacVapour kit). The problem I am fast running up against is that from about tomorrow (maybe another day) I'll be out of original replacement heads for mini nova/CE5. That means only really using the Spinner, unless I risk the Riva. The trouble with the Riva I fried was that I tested a nova for resistance and continuity (is that right?) put it on the Riva and killed it about 10 puffs later. Looking inside the housing of these replaceable heads, a tweak one way or t'other with a wire can short it and that's why I could do with 2 batteries that can withstand this. Not fussed about mah/size/design, but need to make a choice soon. Leaning towards an eGo Twist in all honesty, as some Spinners have cashed in their chips and taken an early bath.

If you are really not fussed about size, how about something serious which has proper short protection? Lavatube, Garry Dibley mod? Cost a bit more now, but should be cheaper in the long run because of battery life.
And moonraker, you are sort of right, but it is nice to think you don't have to care much if an atty dies.

It's not the cost of the individual one, it's the fact I get through them alarmingly quickly. Filled up a clearo last night (new head), vaped it until about 4.00pm, got a bad taste, took it apart, burned wick.... irreparable. it's bugging me, I tell you....

Something simple which over a few months might work out cheaper than endless heads. My re-coils vape well on a little more than 3.7, just the risk is stressing me out....1

Yep, Vamo looks the cheapest. Lavatube £25 body only (beware of cheap copies). Garry Dibley dunno, maybe £20 without batteries & charger, and need 2*18650.
