Over the Forums you read about the ProVari being the one. I don't own one, but I just got my VAMO and think it is really good.
The prices are very different, but say price wasn't a problem, which would you go for? The VAMO or the ProVari?

If you are taking the prices into account (not your ability to pay for them), then I reckon the VAMO wins easily for value for money. If you didn't know the price of them, but got to use them both, the Provari is in a different league quality wise. So they are what you would expect from the pricing I suppose

quality of provari is a better build in my opinion but dated now they will need to up their game without upping their prices if they want to stay in the game so many others coming out with better readouts but staying on the "I look like a provari" style and much cheaper
throw in a z max from the recent group buy into the equation and it will run a very close second to the provari
the Vmax I dont have one but have used one and love the feel of them and the fact that i can make different sizes.
for me i would buy another 4 Zmax's again against another provari but only for its usability and easy to use menu.
Whatever is best will allways be outdone by something else within a short period of time (like buying pc's really) and I cant wait to be parted with my cash for the next "last bit of vaping kit I will ever need honest"

Remember though, provaris don't last forever. Had mine err maybe 8 months. Dropped it perhaps 3 or 4 times. But the last occasion appears to have done some real damage. But still works. I'll have to get another in the new year.

If my vamo lasts long then I am happy, if it doesn't them I am not..lol

As Jason says, the build quality of the provari is quite exemplary, the electronics inside are of a very high quality and the unit itself feels bomb proof, plus it's compact. All these new mods do seem to require a lot of space for their electronics and switches. I've had my provari for well over a year and it still works as good as it did the day I got it. The vamo isn't too shabby on the quality front but that depends on how lucky you are. I've read quite a bit about wonky/tilted 510 connectors and mis-alligned screens, and it's battery cap is rather flimsy and for which the supplied spring is too short for standard 18650s, never an issue on a provari BUT in functionality the vamo is leaps and bounds ahead. Variable voltage, variable wattage and a menu system that's far quicker to navigate to get to the info or setting that you require. It probably won't be long before the boys at provape realise that they need a re-design and make a VW provari and they'll use top quality electronics inside and oled screens which will once again put their device at the top of the league. But for now, should my provari cease to function any more, I will not be be replacing it with another. I'll simply use the vamo and z-max

Hey JayJay, that cap is push fit, I fixed mine when that happened in a vice ( with some padding to prevent scratches).

Please could someone explain why these things make a difference? Why is (what is in theory a battery holder) better than an ego, say? Sorry if that sounds daft but if I'm going to spend what to me is a huge amount of money, I want to know why Ps sorry if this is hijacking a thread, I can post it elsewhere if I'm being impolite.

The Vamo wins hands down for me. It's easier to use than the Provari. The number of times I have to roll round the menu on the Provari because I clicked too many times. On the Vamo, just one button push to test the battery or the atomizer. Easy to change the wattage / voltage. Comes with the extension tube.
Now that I'm used to using VW on the Vamo and Zmax, it's hard to go back to the Provari. Yes the build quality is better, but you are paying quite a lot more for that.
If I had to choose between the Vamo, Provari and the Zmax, it would be the Vamo. The Zmax is great as well at the price we got them for on the Group buy. I would not pay the normal retail price for one.
The black chrome looks so nice as well.

Nice. Thanks peeps. But I was really looking forward to a second. I think it comes down to us as individuals. Being brutal, yes the provari is a way of delivering power. The same as an ego. Lets assume for a moment you like a good drink. Some people will tell you the rum you get from an all inclusive holiday abroad tastes the same as the rum you get down the pub. That difference is less subtle to different people. The cost for that difference is higher to some than others. Some people have 30 grand in the bank but spend just a grand on a car every couple of years. These people are possibly more likely to tell you that rum tastes the same. That's kinda the situation you have. If you know the the type of person you are without doubt. Deciding will be easy.

Don't think I'd be parted from my Provari's, but never say never . .. I am very impressed with the Vamo and the co-op Zmax though, which for me because of the build quality comes second to the Provari. Where the Vamo scores, again for me, is being able to turn it into a 18350 device, that hasn't cost a huge amount of dosh for taking out and about.

I borrowed my nephews provari and was on the verge of buying one when along came the vamo.Being a "plug and play" person I found the Vamo so easy to use and had mastered the controls in no time. And the VW just slaps the Provari all over the show.
