Just got home from work in the supermarket, and before I left I always go looking for the reductions for my own tea or supper. Our store has had a very successful Xmas, beating sales budgets etc., but on Boxing Day there are still some food bargains to be had. Turkeys at a quarter Xmas Eve price and party food etc. Plus non seasonal food that has been ignored in the buying panic leading up to the big day. Anyway while I was looking, I overheard a teenage girl asking her Mum & Dad if they could have Xmas dinner on Boxing Day in future. The Mum said she could have it at Easter if she wanted to. I soon realised what she meant, and said to them it would certainly be a lot cheaper buying their food the day after everyone else had paid full whack. The Dad chipped in that in the next aisle there was a £58 turkey going for £15, and he was seriously considering his daughters suggestion. It's alway a risk a store could have sold out, but I thought 'what a smart and thoughtful girl' trying to save her parents' money. BTW I've now filled up my freezer

There was some beautiful hams that I was dribbling over, at a great price. If only I still had a family living with me (cue violins!) it would have been ideal. But ended up putting them back. Nothing worse than getting a bargain and still having to chuck them out!

why not freeze it? OH and i are always looking for bargains. As he is a nurse he finishes work at 10pm. There are several shops on the way home still open and he pops in to have a rummage on the discount counter. The best deal we got was a huge M&S chicken for 50p. We managed to make 4 different meals out of the whole bird.

Dolly, I'm a bloke, I can just about boil an egg or microwave a ready meal ??? Unless it says in bold capitals that I can freeze it I won't risk it. Plus I've only got a small freezer and it's already full with ready meals for one

Unless it has already been frozen and defrosted. You ought to do a course in cooking for one. Who knows, you might meet the woman of your dreams there and not have to cook anymore
