Another hug for you ((((Lilac)))) & one for (((((Scyla))))) as well. Just over 2 years ago I came down with a terrifying bug. To start with I had sickness & the runs (can't spell dhiariea - see told you I couldn't ) Then a couple of days later I had such a tightness in my chest, it was painful to breathe. It happened over a bank holiday & I felt so ill & scared that I rang NHS direct. They gave me a number to ring & I ended up getting a taxi to my nearest hospital to see a GP on duty there. The first thing that doctor asked me was did I smoke. When I said yes he as good as said it was my own fault & I was most likely just making things worse due to a panic attack A couple of days later I got an appointment with my own doctor & she diagnosed a viral infection with a secondary bacterial chest infection so gave me a course of antibiotics. Yes, another long story but it was due to the fact that the way I was totally dismissed by the doctor I saw at the hospital, because I was a smoker, made me realise I had to do something about how much I was smoking & just a few months later I bought my first e-cig - maybe he did me a favour?

One back to you, sweetie....((((Chrissie)))) That is a disgrace!!! Treating you like that when you were ill & afraid... No 1 rule of a medic......First do no harm....and he made you feel worse... > you should have reported him, the fact that you smoked was no excuse by comparison, the dr i saw didn't even ask if i smoked cripes, half the drs at my hospital smoke, even the consultants!!

Scylla, Your post at #12......... "I suddenly became chilled to the marrow, all thru my insides, I had to chatter my teeth and shiver violently to survive... I lay down in bed with 2 duvets and eventually went off to sleep, and several hours later I woke up almost on fire. It wasn't anything like my hot & cold flushes/sweats. Then the next morning it was as if nothing had happened ???"
I've had this, maybe once or twice a year, on and off for thirty-odd years. From keeping a note of when it happens, I've put it down to stress. Not always bad stress, either - I've experienced it when I've returned home after a night out on the town, too, when I'm not stressed, more hyped-up... For me, a glass of sherry cures it.

For me, a glass of sherry cures it. That would undo 20+ years of abstinence and you'd never see me again Fortunately the queer turn hasn't happened since, I'm back to my "normal" temperature madness. scylla

Scylla, It works for me because of just that - I'm not a drinker at all. So I think the alcohol hits the spot quickly. If it weren't for that odd glass of sherry, I'd be a teetotaller.
