What a lovely gesture, Bel.... And Hi Chrissie - Thanks, I'm doing fine... Haven't touched a single cig since getting the ecig and finding this forum. I never, ever imagined I'd be able to quit smoking, let alone quit so easily. Thank goodness for you all here. OK, enough cheese....

Welcome JJ, And all the luck in the world. The ecig worked for me and I smoked about the same as you - 50 grams in 3-4 days.

I won't get onto my soapbox about the greedy, stupid morons who go under the guise of "government" (of whatever persuasion, they always end up exactly the same - stupid and greedy). But this article is the first time I've seen a health professional talk sense on the subject and also come out in favour of ecigs. I particularly like this bit:
"“It boggles my mind why there is a bias against e-cigarettes among antismoking groups,” Dr. Siegel said. He added that it made no sense to fret about hypothetical risks from minuscule levels of several chemicals in e-cigarettes when the alternative is known to be deadly: cigarettes containing thousands of chemicals, including dozens of carcinogens and hundreds of toxins. "
It says exactly what all of us have been saying for years.

Hi Gordy, I know it doesn't say anything that we (users of ecigs, that is) don't already know or suspect, but, maybe, the word is spreading at last....

Thanks Scylla and Lilac, Lilac, no, I'm not ignoring anything. My GP has another patient who was hospitalised 15 times with various suspected serious conditions, only to find that it was all down to quitting smoking.......

Thanks so much for your support - the doctor assures me that I'm fine, and I just have to tough it out....
With hindsight, I'd never have quit the nicotine so suddenly and finally. It'd have been much better to have gradually reduced the nicotine over a period of time....
But my point is that any adverse effects that may be put down to vaping might also be due to quitting the smokes....

I'm sorry not to have been around here for ages - other stuff has kept me busy....
I've not read the link yet (will do so later) but having read this thread, I have to say that I've had some awful side effects, and I'm still suffering dreadfully.
But all of these effects are due to quitting smoking; I can say this with confidence as I quit smoking in February with the aid of the ecig but haven't used that at all in 5 or 6 months now.

Hi Irene, Welcome to the forum.... I started with the dse 901 and stayed with it. I used to smoke 20+ roll-ups a day (fat ones) and smoked for over 40 years. Good luck....

Welcome, Grumpy ! As an ex 20+ a day rollie smoker for more than 40 years, I can tell you that you will get all the help and advice you need on here. This is the best forum I've ever come across for it's easy-going, helpful and friendly posters. I started with the dse901 and haven't had a single puff of a real cigarette since I first received the ecig in February this year. Never, never, never thought I'd ever manage to quit smoking, but with help from here I've done just that for over six months so far.... Good luck with whatever you decide.

Welcome to you both, Gsijan and Merly..... I can't be much help to you re. which ecig is best for you, but can say that I've just turned 60 and I smoked for over 40 years. I found this forum in January this year and haven't smoked at all since I received my first ecig. I stuck with the dse901, and now very rarely use even that. It's been worth it's weight in gold for me. Good luck to you both.....

Ken, Chrissie, Thanks for your comments. Lolli, Still, though, you are doing brilliantly. (I'm thinking that you smoke fewer cigarettes since you took up the ecig......) Which must be good.

Hanow, I had that burning sensation in the top of the lung when I first began to use the ecig. It was very uncomfortable and had me coughing and spluttering for a while afterwards. It was when I was using pre-filled carts. and I put it down to a bad mixture.......
The weight across the chest - I've had that a couple of times since quitting smoking and I think it's down to the lungs clearing themselves. It seems to be a common symptom of quitting.
However, I agree with Ken - you should see your doctor just to be on the safe side (I did).

YES, YES, YES, Everything you have all said is absolutely spot on ! Ken, Very many congrats. on your five days tobacco-free..... It's certainly not nothing; for a lifelong smoker, it is an achievement only dreamed of for so many of us before the advent of ecigs and, as everyone here has already said, we have all been or want to be where you are now. To go five days without a cigarette is something we never, ever thought possible (indeed, we couldn't go a couple of hours without). I am one of those who never thought I'd stop smoking; tried several times over the years and never managed more than a few hours. I heard about the ecig and reckoned if I couldn't quit smoking, then I should try it as an alternative and then at least I'd not be ingesting all that tar. Well, that was 24 weeks ago tomorrow, and, so far, I've not had a single puff of a cigarette since..... As it turned out, I've managed to stop smoking and now I've stopped using the ecig too; not to say that I'll never use my ecig again, but, if I ever have cravings for a smoke, I'll pick up my ecig instead. I honestly don't think I'll ever go back to smoking.... And I was a smoker for over 40 years.... This has been so successful for me, and I just can't believe that they're not advertised and promoted everywhere. So, from me too, a huge thank you to all on here as I would never have done it without the ecig and this forum.
