hah beat ya was going to order a £2.95 drip tip £4.99 postage ,,,,cancelled the checkout, will agree hit and miss and trying to be competitive ,but when ie small items like drip tips etc weigh practically nothing think that price should be adjusted, i do know of a few sites that acutally have weight of the item and price rises for the postage, dependant on weight, but like ebay unless you really really want it you will pay it,but ebay are clamping down on excessive postage prices
ps went to site that has weight adjusted and paid a £1.49

Prospective buyers will go elsewhere if sellers use postage extortion. I certainly will from now on.

It's a tough call. There is a vendor I have used and the charge is £3.50. Now, I sent something the other day for 69p to someone in the same envelope. So, here's the issue. Anything over a certain size IS going to cost the £2.20 (?) RM cost + 50p (at least) for the packaging. It's all about whether the darn envelope will fit through the Post Office "sizing" gadget. Next time I use them, if it's tiny stuff that doesn't require any special packaging (which it didn't first time), then I will email them first to double check they really want £3.50.... I think it helps for "us" to realise the costs. Liquids in a jiffy bag are not going to fit through the gadget, end of story. I'm happy to pay what it costs....I really am. Discount codes nearly always save me a quid or two, so postage + packaging is easier to pay full price for...

Damn but I'd hate to be a vendor LOL I posted 2 10ml bottles out today, first class, one was .90 the other £2.30 because the guy couldn't fit it through the gap!! I used to sell a fair bit on ebay and one day sat down and worked out how long it took me to wrap, post and process one item, not long really but multiply that by a few hundred and you soon see where all your time is going If the postage is free or dirt cheap, you are paying for it else where, nothing surer.

remember RM charge 90p for less than 25mm and £2.70 for over 25mm. an extortionate difference. and it isn't possible to have a webshop that works it out perfectly every time.

I agree Todd and I certainly don't mind paying postage. We quite often sell on ebay and if you wrap it decently it can cost a bit in bubble wrap, brown paper etc, let alone the time it takes. But I was just a bit put off by the 4.50 for just 10ml. I wouldn't mind paying it for something I know I like, but I just can't risk throwing that much money down the drain

I buy just about everything online and just work out the total cost and decide from there. Simple. But I only buy juice from two sources, so...

Same here, I want to try swedish fish, but cheapest postage is £4.44 second class, since I don't know if I like it, I'm not about to pay that. 50ml from alchemist cupboard is £3.70 first class. So why it cost more to send a 10ml bottle second class than it does a 50ml bottle first class is beyond me,
I posted a few out today that I've sold in the trade/sell section cost 90p first class and 69p second class for a 10ml bottle. Add £1 for a small padded envelope (got 6 for £1 in the £ shop).
Obviously it's a business, so I get hey have to make a profit, so add a little for time etc, but I refuse to pay as much for postage as I am for juice.

I sent some juices out (gift) and I slid the package through the thing with about 5% of the strength of my little finger. The lady behind the counter said it couldn't go for 69p as "it would not fall through"... I guess it was 26mm thick or something. It's a mad system. Now, if she'd said, "it's a little big", so it's 2 x 69p (1.38, say) I'd have paid on the spot. In the end, I got her off her backside, asked her to come round and watch me push it through....it went through every time, she even pushed it though herself, with no effort whatsoever..... It's a jiffy bag f.g.s. Anyway, she sent it for 69p and told me not to complain if it never arrived at the destination. ???

It's a real juggling act I'd imagine for reputable Vendors with P&P prices . . . not helped when RM reworked their pricing structure ( April was it ? ) . . . we've gained on the larger parcels, as the majority of our stuff comes into the £2.70 up to 750gram band.
Where we've lost out is on the smaller items, which would have once been £1.50ish postage( can't remember now ) if they won't fit easily through that ridiculously narrow RM mailer gauge, then they're in the £2.70 bracket.
That said, there will always be Vendors of anything who will gouge you for postage, as there are those that subsidize it, to a fairly extensive degree.
There is no such thing as free P&P, Vendors would go out of business if they didn't incorporate the charge somewhere.

I guess, from my experience, that a small jiffy is just a little too big with 5, 10 and 20ml e-liquid bottles in.
Maybe we could all learn to NOT use a jiffy, or perhaps design a jiffy with less bubble diameter!! ???
I think RM have done it on purpose. I bet you, if I went to a P.O. and put almost anything in one of the "standard" jiffys, it would be just over 25mm.
Slim-JIFFY! One for the inventors there.....

Went through the 25mm slot. So 90p. 30ml wouldn't so £2.50 for that.
