Okay, I have been vaping for almost 2 months now, and the DIY (mad professor) bug is biting me hard, so need to get started. I have compiled a list/load of questions and thought I would put them out there.
My tastes so far have been towards the sweet custard type vapes, and I was intending to mix approx. 50/50 PG/VG (only because that is what the eliquids I have been buying tend to be, and I know no better) and around 18-24 nic level. So, onto my list and questions.
I have just ordered some Capella French Toast and Vanilla Custard as flavours to get me started, and no doubt I will order some more over the coming days in preparation of my other items being delivered and the madness to begin.
Things I (think i) need to order:- 500ml PG –ebay £5.99 500ml VG – ebay £5.19 (or 200ml from Boots if I get the chance) Liquid crystal 54 Nic liquid 100ml - £15.95 Postmodernsmoking Vodka – in the kitchen so free Gloves/syringes/bottles around the house so also free Any comments so far?
Now the questions start (sorry!)… Dulce de Leche, is this needed? (cloud9) Cooling agent, is this needed? (cloud9) Vape wizard - £3.39 from Libertyflights, is this needed?
Now onto sweeteners… I have some sachets of Truvia in the kitchen, It is a sweetener powder based on the Stevia plant. Ingredients are as follows……. Truvia® Calorie-Free Sweetener is made from steviol glycosides (stevia leaf extract) erythritol and natural flavourings. Can his be used as a sweetener, or am I best off buying a dedicated sweetener?
If I am to buy one, which one would people recommend, Stevia (and if so, where is a good place to buy it from?) or Ethyl Malto (£4.48 inc. p&p) from uk-eliquid. I must admit, I like the sound of the flavour of the Ethyl Malto.
Finally (phew!) could someone recommend a good (but not too expensive please) dripping atomizer. I am currently using ego batterys, but have just ordered a Sigelei Zmax from the co-op, so would like it to fit this really (not sure if the 2 have the same fittings yet!).
Anyway, many thanks for taking the time to read my drivel, and I welcome any comments/advice.

Sorry, I have little advice to offer, other than to stalk Perpetua and Frogster's posts within this section, those 2 know their stuff!

Hi Dave............ have tried to answer to the best of my ability, answers are in bold Okay, I have been vaping for almost 2 months now, and the DIY (mad professor) bug is biting me hard, so need to get started. You have this covered pretty well, I would go for the PG & VG from Ebay, works out cheaper in the long run, shame PM is not doing the special offer on the nic still runningNow the questions start (sorry!)… Dulce de Leche, is this needed? (cloud9) Cooling agent, is this needed? (cloud9) Vape wizard - £3.39 from Libertyflights, is this needed? these are always good to have in your cupboard just in case, so yes get themNow onto sweeteners… I have some sachets of Truvia in the kitchen, It is a sweetener powder based on the Stevia plant. Ingredients are as follows……. Truvia® Calorie-Free Sweetener is made from steviol glycosides (stevia leaf extract) erythritol and natural flavourings. Can his be used as a sweetener, or am I best off buying a dedicated sweetener? Not sure on Truvia........ I would go for Stevia itself, Perpetua has provided a link on one of the info threads in this section about where to get itIf I am to buy one, which one would people recommend, Stevia (and if so, where is a good place to buy it from?) or Ethyl Malto (£4.48 inc. p&p) from uk-eliquid. I must admit, I like the sound of the flavour of the Ethyl Malto. try Paradise Vape for the Ethyl Malto........ James has a 10ml bottle at a very reasonable priceFinally (phew!) could someone recommend a good (but not too expensive please) dripping atomizer. I am currently using ego batterys, but have just ordered a Sigelei Zmax from the co-op, so would like it to fit this really (not sure if the 2 have the same fittings yet!). I've been using the Vision Eternity for dripping......... quite good value but I think in the general e-cig discussion threads there are some recommendations on a cheap dripper
Anyway, many thanks for taking the time to read my drivel, and I welcome any comments/advice. You will enjoy the experience of making you own........ have fun

For a decent dripper that's rebuild able, I can recommend the IGO-L. They are cheap and very easy to rebuild - IMO it is an excellent dripper for vapour and flavour. I find i'm using mine more than any other device right now! The 306 is also very good but you cannot rebuild them (well not easily). www.ivapour-elixir.co.uk/parts/rebuildable-atomisers/igo-l-atomizer.htmThere are other places that sell them of course! I would get some better O-rings to secure the top a little better as the ones that come with it are a bit "loose". Also, you would need a 510 drip tip with either the 306 or the IGO. All the mixing ingredients you are getting are fine for what you need but I would get the nicotine in VG if you are trying to achieve a 50/50 mix ratio. I think you may find it hard to achieve 50/50 using PG NIC. Someone correct me if im wrong! This place sells VG nic at a good price. www.cig-eliquid.co.uk/Unflavoured_VG_E-liquid_DIY_base_52mg-52__75ml__1649/p649230_2871773.aspx Dulche isn't required but lots of us like to add it to mixes for extra flavour. It goes well with a lot of flavours. Cooling agent - this isn't needed but it adds a nice cooling sensation without being menthol. It goes nice with fruit flavoured juices. Vape Wizard MTS - again not required but when used it does as it says on the tin by mellowing acidic flavours, making a thicker vapour and can round of a juice nicely.

Sounds like you're pretty well sorted with the basics there Dave . . . I'd stick with pure Stevia though if you're going to use that as your sweetening agent. There's an Ebay seller who also sells it, save ordering from overseas: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251174882414?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649I'd perhaps sort out a couple of basic recipes that you'd like to make, then buy the flavourings to make them, otherwise you could end up with a bunch of random concentrates, that won't actually make a complete whole . . . what were you going to use the French Toast with, if you don't mind me asking?

cig eliquid.co.uk do good base nic at 52mg good price too
cotton candy flavouring is ethyl maltol mixed in pg
but like perpy says find a recipe you like the sound of and get all the ingredients needed and try that then have a go at making it better or more to your liking
oh yes get a eliquid calculator they are well worth it as you just putt some base figures in and it will work out all your quantities for you
i use "ejuice me up" its free software and has a whole lot of recipies incuded
and dont forget enjoy wat your doin and start with say 5ml or 10 ml bottles till you find some you like

Thanks everyone for their fantastic and very helpful replies. Sounds like you're pretty well sorted with the basics there Dave . . . I'd stick with pure Stevia though if you're going to use that as your sweetening agent. So just to confirm, I would be better off buying this instead of the Ethyl Malto, or do they serve different purposes?
There's an Ebay seller who also sells it, save ordering from overseas: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251174882414?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649I'd perhaps sort out a couple of basic recipes that you'd like to make, then buy the flavourings to make them, otherwise you could end up with a bunch of random concentrates, that won't actually make a complete whole . . . what were you going to use the French Toast with, if you don't mind me asking? To be honest, I havent a clue, just fancied seeing what it tastes like, sounds nice, mmmmmm

They're both sweetners Dave . . . my personal inclination only is towards Stevia, but you'll find amongst Mixers, as with everything else, that everyone has their preferences.
Sucralose or Stevia it is for me . . . .
Lol, fair enough with the Toast . . . you might want to think of something else to combine it with though, a fruit flavour might be nice.

Sucralose I think Alvo . . . I'll go check on their webbie.
Yep, sucralose . . .
Ingredients:Propylene Glycol, Water, Sucralose
It can crystalize if it gets cold.
