Hi I got a 9.5 hr nonstop international flight coming up which means ~12 hrs in no 'smoking' areas Has anyone vaped at Heathrow or in a plane recently? How'd the people react? Did anyone make you stop? Did u have any trouble getting your juice across immigration? J

There was a thread regarding the same in ECF. It seems in Heathrow you can vape openly and there would not be any problem in taking your e-cig on board. Make sure you dont carry too much liquid and also do put them separately
Regarding vaping on planes. It is not certain. Ask the stewardess and if she allows vape properly and if she does not go to the bathroom and vape (These do not trigger the alarm unless you blow the vapour directly on the alarm)
You can also try stealth vaping in your seat without asking the stewardess
Hope this helps

cant comment yet, but I did make a phonecall last week to stanstead in preparation for the future holibobs. They have absoloutly no problem with vaping anywhere within the airport, and that they arent aware of any airlines (apart from some US ones) which dont allow vaping.

Thanks Shmreez and Bluecow. It's a relief to know Heathrow is no problems. My airline is a relatively small Indian airline (Kingfisher - i'm going to Delhi) who might not know about vaping ??? Think I might call and ask.

We went to Egypt just before Xmas, flying from Birmingham. I vaped in the airport and on the plane. I got some strange looks but hey ho!
I did get stopped at the customs on the way back because they couldn't make out what my tin was on the scanner. I suppose several batteries and bits on bobs in a tin may have looked quite suspicious. When I told them what was in there I had to give them a full demo! I vaped in the airport in Egypt with no problems either and all the way back on the plane.

Oh make sure you put your juice in your plastic bag that you have to have for liquids.

We got stopped last year after they thought I was smuggling yoghurts out of the country. It was playdoh, and i'd already called ahead to check whether that classed as a liquid or not.

www.britishairways.com/cms/global/pdfs/Forbidden_Items_List.pdfthis might come in handy too. I assume attys are classed as "Heat Producing Items". So just remember all spare batteries need to be in your hand luggage, AND to put your e-cig and spare attys in there too. Your not allowed to carry it on your person but you are allowed to have it in your hand luggage.

I flew to Andorra for New Year and didn't have a problem. I had the basics with me and spares in my hold luggage and no-one batted an eyelid. I'm flying again on Friday and hoping that is just as plain sailing. I would suggest you take a self addressed and stamped envelope with you, just in case they decide you can't take your gear on the flight, then you can just post it off to yourself - they will allow that. With regard to vaping on the flight, blowing out the vapour over a steaming cup of coffee always works for me
