Did you try covering the airhole with your finger while screwing the cap back on? I also screw the cap down very slowly. It didn't flood for me then. I agree, excellent atty for the price. No Steve and I did screw it on quickly..I'll try that next time because looking at the Kayfun video that is how it is supposed to work.. But it works fine with the wicks in the channels too.I also got the thread started on the cone and used a small screwdriver and tuck the wicks before screwing it in all the way. No more shredding and vapes really well with absolutely no juice in the drip well....

Another piccy My main concern was to avoid shredded fibres from the wick. I have been reading a lot about the Kayfun Mini and the system used on that seems to be that the wick sits up above the channels, the channels only being used to draw up the juice onto the wick which sits up above. Macca, I tried it as per the photo, with the coil at the end of the wick which was then spiralled around the ledge in a clockwise direction so that screwing on the juice control, also in a clockwork direction left the wick in its spiral position. With a 60mm wick, I was able to do a complete turn which sat over both juice channels. I didn't get any juice leakage. Blakeys tip makes sense to cover the airhole when screwing on the cap. I will make sure that I always do that from now on. Macca as you have said whatever works for you. If it was made in stainless, it probably would have been called a "Kayfunny"

I just put a small piece of sticky label over the air hole and pierced it with a small pin and the draw is just right so a bit of resin and a small hole in it .The air hole seems to be twice as big as it needs to be

I have changed the o ring in the top cap for one of these(sorry for the rubbish Pic). Not sure where it came from but it fits in the top of the juice control perfectly. Once the top cap is screwed back on there is a 1mm gap where it doesn't screw all the way in.

Ok update from a non-techy. Took the original wick and removed it from the channels and with the wick wet wound it loosely round the two pins and coil (very rough and ready) screwed the liquid control all the way down. No problems now with the liquid control catching the o-ring. After reading Steve's post reversed the spring in the base as I had put it in with the large coil at the bottom (not that it gave me any problems). A quick fix on the airhole with a bit of sellotape with a few pin pricks in it (need to look at a more permanent solution, when I can put it down) and away I went. Drained the tank twice (normally vape around 2-3mls per day so rocking with this thing) and not one dry hit, flavour and vapour are fabulous. Need to slow down as am definitely overdoing the nic levels. Absolutely loving it (no posh atties yet to compare with but by far the best tenner I have spent since starting vaping). Again many thanks Macca, I am for sure in for another one if there is a group buy.

Got mine today, so now I can join in the fun! Thanks macca – I’m impressed with this. It is based on the same principle as the Kayfun but is sort of a “midi” version of it. The original has a tank that is 22 or 23 mm diameter and holds 6.5ml (15.5ml in the double tank setup!). My mini is 14mm diameter. This one is 19mm diameter and in fact the tank is identical to a Vivi Nova tank, threads and all – so easy to change the colour if you want to, or get a metal tank. The other major differences are that the Kayfun has proper screw connectors and a screw next to the airhole to adjust the airflow. I find the “Dream” is far too airy so will have to permanently fix that. The coil that was fitted to it was no good at all. It was set far too high above the air intake and had the wick trailing down the channels. It is based on the Kayfun V2.0, which is no longer made and I found a video of the Russian guy (Sergei I think) who designed the original demonstrating how to wick it: He is using 1mm Ekowool wick which is supplied with the Kayfun. It is quite different to other wick I have – it is flat braided wick and is stretchy. The 1mm is actually 2mm wide if you lay it flat – if you pull it taught you get the 1mm diameter. I used this folded over twice like he does it (the same as I do in my mini Kayfun). You then just wedge it in the chamber and the juice comes up the channels when you inhale – its just replacing the air you have taken out. If you want to try it I have just discovered that you can get it in the UK: www.ecigwizard.com/en/accessories/other-acc/silica-wick.htmlI’m waiting for my order to be delivered, so I’m hoping it is the same type of Ekowool as I’ve got. I find it works very well in my mini and it also works very well in the Dream. I half filled the tank and have pretty much drained that off with no problems at all and for me the flavour and throathit are very good. The Kayfun has moved on from this early version and is now made in Germany from SS. The top part of the chamber unscrews, which makes it much easier to get your wick positioned well. It also has a filling valve in the base. I must admit I don’t use that on mine as I find it easier to just hold my finger over the airhole while filling it and screwing on the top part. Nevertheless, I think this is an excellent piece of kit for the money and gives a good idea of why the Kayfuns are so good.

Good find Dave! Never occured to me to check out the earlier version of the Kayfun..Will put more wick in and try like the video. Meanwhile I found that the top cap of a stardust/CE4 type clearo in lieu of the O ring fits perfectly and prevents the top cap from grabbing the cone whilst providing a 100% seal..

Thanks for the tip on the Vivi Nova tanks Dave, just switched to a blue one (fits perfectly), filled up with vanilla custard and have gone to vaping heaven. Looks really good but pity it is siting on top of a Vamo - thinks me needs a new shiny hmm.....

I tried the Kayfun V2 method and lost another 1/2 a tank of juice down the drip well..This time finger over the air hole and slowly screwed the top cap on but it still shoots up those channels and floods the chamber and juice level dips to about half.. I now understand why the Kayfun ES3 is filled from the bottom..

I just tried the V2 wick layout as well and I'm getting the same as macca with the juice flooding the chamber. I didn;t get that problem when putting the wick in the channels.
Question for you more experienced peeps, as I've only been vaping for about a month. I normally use Vivi Novas, with my own coils and wicks, and I'm pretty happy with it as there is little throat hit. With the Dream, and an Aga-T I've been playing with, I get a bigger throat hit. On the Aga-T I've tried mesh and silica wicks. I've sanded the cap to ensure the airhole lines up with the wick hole. On the Dream I've got the coil as close to the air hole as I can, and I've tried it higher up as it was supplied. Is this normal for these types?

Yes, a lot more juice vapourised and the vape is hotter, so more throat hit is quite normal..

Cheers macca, I'll probably stop playing with this now then as it's too much for me.
Disappointed now as I like playing with new toys :-(
