..... who wanted to know about e-cigs and how she could get onto them.
Now she said she wanted to use e-cigs to save her money and at first I thought that here is someone I can relate to because this is why I thought that I had taken to e-cigs.
But the more I spoke to her and showed her all the various ways she could start vaping, the more I realised that it wasn't just the cost that started me on the vaping trail. That, for me, there was a number of other factors like my health and lifestyle and the constrictions forced upon me by being a smoker. Yes I had a number of reasons to start vaping as well as save me money.
However, this lady today was only interested in saving money and I could see that vaping, for her, would only be a means to that end.
I will ofcourse keep trying to help her make the change, but I fear I am wasting my time.
I wonder how many others there are who spend most of their spare cash on fags and are loathed to spend a few days of fag cash on a decent vaping kit, just to see if it would be for them.

I know what you're saying. It seems logical to try it out even if it ended up not working out.
It's a mindset thing to be honest. From my own personal experience you just need to get on with it and like you said a decent kit will do that. The least amount of messing about the better for a newbie.

Yes Lobey, I gave a couple of 510 bats, some juice and cartos to a friend. They were getting really into it until they realised that cartos are disposable and even batteries don't last forever ??? She managed one night we were drinking together to stay off the ciggies using a mechanical mod I had, she was very impressed, much better than the cig-a-likes she said. I offered to sell her the mod, charger and 2 18650 batteries for £20. She said she couldn't afford it I know I could have given her it, but I thought she might have tried a bit harder if she had actually parted with some cash. Apparently the 510 batteries got lost She's still smoking

A friend of mine at work asked me to get him a vaping kit so i did i got him a 1100 mah passthrough kit with ce4's a wk ago, a wk later he came upto me thanking me and boasted how much money he had saved. if your buying a pack of fags a day , i supose it is a big saving, but i smoked rolleys and got that cheap . no real savings for me but i wanted to pack it in for my health and ive noticed a great difference also its turned into a great hobby.

It was the strangest feeling sitting in a house that stank to high heaven of cigarette smoke and listening to her coughing fit to burst while thinking, did I used to do that? Did my house smell like that? I said nothing ofcourse, and yes, I could have left her with enough kit to get her started, but I too am of the opinion that people have to make a commitment themselves if they want to change.
I will leave her a few days to let what I said sink in and then I will take it from there.
Thanks for answering. I feel I am handling this the right way.

I wonder how many others there are who spend most of their spare cash on fags and are loathed to spend a few days of fag cash on a decent vaping kit, just to see if it would be for them. Lots, I fear. This is one of the things that annoys me about the mini-branded-e-cig market. The companies make all these claims about how switching will save you £1,000s but - will it? Some websites even have calculators to "see how much you could save" The problem is though - to do this, you'll need to quit tobacco and start full-time vaping. Then there are the reality checks about how little nicotine you will actually get, how few "cigarettes-worth" are really available from a 0.7ml carto. It just goes on, and on...... I was stupid enough to fall for it. I bet there are thousands of folk thinking "ooh, this could save me money", but it probably won't. i.m.o. it's possible to vape for very little, even buying pre-made liquid. But you're going to need to pony up the starting cost. a £6.99 look-a-like from Morrisons could ending being a pretty bad buy and put people off e-cigs for good. Others, like me, end up on here.

I have easily spent more money in three months on vaping than I ever did on fags.
Difference being, I enjoy vaping, I like to try new flavours, try new tanks, I enjoy being part of this forum and finding out about new juices to try and new mods I can save for. hated smoking, I was wheezing, I smelt like a stale ashtray and since I wouldn't smoke inside I often froze my unmentionables off just to have a smoke.
I started vaping to stop smoking, after seeing a friend do really well on a 510 clearo kit. I got the same, quickly upgraded to a nova, have now ordered a CV1 from the co-op and ordered my first rebuldable.
Some people just aren't ready to quit.

TBH as an ex rollie smoker, I knew I wasn't going to save any money. I did think I might break even! I need to live for another 60 years and buy no more vaping supplies then I may break even

I've saved a huge fortune since I started vaping. So have my next door neighbours in less than 6 months & even my next door but one neighbours who have only been using their Riva kit for less than 2 weeks - wifey smoked over 40 a day & hubby smoked over 20 roll ups a day.
For both neighbours, the saving money aspect was the main reason for giving e-cigs ago - but health issues came a very close second.

on a serious note a packet of 20 is what £6.00+ and a wanna be vaper wants to spend £0.00 to see if it will compare to their current smokes my reckon is grab a vape kit fill with a flavour that is universal (i.e ry4) let them try it or point them to Tesco asda etc for a lookalike and also point them here to avoid the pitfalls of throwing good money after bad after all, those looking to replace their ciggies will always want something that resembles their own brand before they search for something better, and this forum does it all

I've blown so much money on vaping crap that doesn't work properly, or breaks, or leaks, it's annoying to say the least. But as I would now be spending close to £2000 a year smoking and I seem to have stopped buying most wasteful things, it's getting alot better. I don't think I've spent quite as much on vaping, as I would have done smoking. But it's all pretty academic, considering I can breathe now is slightly more important to me

we've spent so much more, in the short term, that we would smoking, but the chances are i'm gonna live long enough to see both my kids graduate, have kids and there their kids have kids.
