Yes mine are now £7.02 a pack and I was on 40 a day.
And yes I have saved a lot of money, but right at the start, when I was still smoking and wondering if e-cigs "might" work for me, I did have to think quite a bit before I spent extra on something that I did not know if it would work for me or not.
I was lucky in the Skycig were doing a special promotion and I got a kit for 12 quid. I was also lucky that by that time my coughing was so bad that I was on Menthol Fags and also that that Skycig Kit also contained two Menthol Cartos. It was these alone that convinced me that e-cigs might just work for me. There was a number of other lucky chances that came along at that time and if any one of them had not happened, I honestly don't know if I would still be vaping today.

Newbie here, so I hope you don't mind me butting in, but it's so interesting what you've said. I haven't had any problems coming off cigarettes since I found vaping. I was so happy to find something healthier, cleaner and cheaper to take its place and still feels like I haven't actually given up. The only time I had to buy a packet of cigs was because the basic e-cig lookalike kept caving on me and was inadequate. Then I found this place, got some sound advice and a Riva and know I'll never go back,(unless they ban vaping). I only wish I'd known someone who could have put me onto it sooner. I've smoked all my life and enjoyed it. Hated what it does to your health, the smell of the house, especially the morning after the night before when we had friends round and more than one person smoked. Even I could tell how bad it was and would go round opening all the windows. The need to decorate all the time because the walls and paint work were going brown. Smelly ashtrays hanging around. The money being spent as every budget day the price went up through the roof. I could give a million reasons why I wanted to stop but never could. The crunch came when I realised exactly how much we (myself and OH) were spending on cigs, so I suppose the main driver, despite all the above, was cost. I bought an e-cig to help me try to give up, started to read up on them, which led me here and I'm over the moon frankly as I'm not convinced I would have been successful at quitting altogether. I've done the maths and know it's going to be so much cheaper now the initial outlay has been made for 2 starter kits and some e liquid, which is less than a week's cigs between us would have cost, but the other benefits are too many to mention. Even my OH hasn't had a problem changing over and has said that he hasn't missed his cigs since I convinced him to give vaping a go with me. I've even found I don't vape as much as I used to smoke. Having lit a cigarette, I had to smoke it all as I wouldn't waste one, but now I'm finding I can just take a couple of vapes when I need to and then switch it off. It's enough for me and it's great. Do like a little more in the evening though If your friend can't see all that, or doesn't want to even try, then there's not a lot you can do about it I'm afraid.

I let my friend try 11 different flavours and the only one she didn't cough fit to burst was the Menthol one. So at least I have a starting point.

I've blown so much money on vaping crap that doesn't work properly, or breaks, or leaks, it's annoying to say the least. But as I would now be spending close to £2000 a year smoking and I seem to have stopped buying most wasteful things, it's getting alot better. I don't think I've spent quite as much on vaping, as I would have done smoking. But it's all pretty academic, considering I can breathe now is slightly more important to me I should think Womble is right. I can't think I'll ever save money vaping. I've bought fags (cheap, but still proper brands) from all over the world in large numbers and when I decided I'd had enough of those, I took up rolling. I still have over 100g somewhere in the house. The money is always a hard one to quantify. I never smoked that much (although my nicotine intake was equivalent to a PAD) and the idea of spending more than £15 or £20 a week was out of the question. My missus spends more than she earns on cigarettes which is sad for me not just because I have to top up her bank account, but worse than that, somewhat obviously, I would gladly swap the £4,000 a year she (we) spends on smoking for spending even £100,000 to have her get her life back. I would sell our house and all that we own for her to not be so ill. She doesn't have "dreaded" anything but it makes me sad to see her health suffer so badly. That's what makes me so cross about the proposals to ruin the e-cig freedom/market and hand it over to as yet unknown powerful corporations. That's another reason why I hate the products that promise so much yet deliver so little.

The daft thing is that if everybody with a big-ish e-cig just used 'em wherever and whenever, and didn't bat an eyelid about it, you'd see folks picking up on 'em a lot quicker. The more folks see 'em being used, the more they'll give them a go - it's called the tipping effect, and we're close.

Talking about costs. During my first 6 months I have saved £2,467.92 worth of fags. I have spent £1,411.06 on Vaping equipment and chemicals. I still have £753.36 in stock. So 6 months of vaping has cost me £657.70 and this includes stuff that I have given or thrown away.
I have met vapers who buy the likes of an ego kit and from then on only buy the e-juice to fill it and I take my hat off to them. They just vape and are contented to do only that.
I would like to think that someday I too will be content with what I already have, but somehow I don't think that will ever happen, however I do have more than enough to do me for a while and apart from the co-op buys and a few of the more exotic e-juices to sample, my ciggie savings will now be put towards more mundane things like a newer car etc.
