Very happy with my Vamo now I have the treads sorted. The only issue I have is that it is reluctant to power up. Sometimes when I screw in the bottom cap the led doesn't flick on and off and then it won't power up at all. When it does power up it won't start with just 5 clicks. Sometimes 1 click, wait a sec, then 5 clicks works, at other times it takes 2 or 3 sequences of 5 clicks to get it going. Once it's powered up it's fine until you power down. Any ideas? Robby's suggestion of stretching the spring sorted this completely

Caved in and just ordered a stainless steel Vamo and a Nova kit for just under £29 delivered.
I know the Nova kits are most likely not originals but was worth a gamble for $6.
Look forward to receiving it.

Mine left me with an awful metallic taste in my mouth for a week, that I only got rid of with antibacterial mouthwash (Corsodyl). I have binned it and just use the delrin/plastic ones I already have from other nova's just in case. I am not saying 100% that it was the tips fault, but when I stopped using it I got better.

8 days from shipping email to delivery. not too shabby at all though i was panicking a bit. batteries all on charge now and have to wait until later to play with it. may i say, i ordered the kit with charger and batteries but bought them all elsewhere, anyhoo, the gift box is very nice. The little batteries are good capacity, unlike a lot of "kit" batteries you get from China and the charger will make a great little back up

Cheers for the tip (excuse the pun) monomach. If I receive a metallic one I'll be sure to give it a good soak in isopropyl before trying it out. If that doesn't work then I'll have to buy a compatible delrin/plastic one as this will be my first nova experience.

Bare in mind that the charger from China does not have overcharge protection, any batteries should be removed as soon as the light goes green so I read on UKV in the past.

I don't know if the electronics (like the readings) are bust but I just dropped my Chrome vamo down a flight of concrete stairs.... Have to say still works but awful burnt taste though indicating it shouldn't be? Says 1.7ohms and 4w ...there's no way that should be a burnt taste... Yes it did bend...but I fixed that with pliers

I am sure you have probably done this while fixing the bend, but you did take the battery out and restart, yes?
