Another Glasgow Newbie

Hi Guys, am new to the site, and pretty new to e-cigs as well, a friend of mine had a look a like to try and kick his habit, and one of the guys I work with has a homemade e-cig that seems to do him quite well.

I need to kick the fags, am fed up with everything stinking of them, myself, my clothes, my flat, everything.

But i don't know where to start, I haven't got the willpower to kick nicotine all together as I have tried before and only managed a couple of days before crawling up the walls.

so i need advice on the best kit to go for as a beginner, i need one with a reasonable battery life as days when I am working i can be out of the flat for anything up to 12 hours.

There are sooooo many different e-cigs, and there are loads of friendly people here with lots more knowledge than me!!

As I've only been vaping a few months, I'm fairly new to it all but this is what I got as a starter kit :

1) it's a look-a-like
2) it has a portable charging case, that means as long as it's charged you can charge up a battery in it while you're at work.
it also resembles the shape/size of a fag packet which as a newbie, I liked....and although I have a bigger more powerful one now I still use these when out and about.

Hello from an ex-Glaswegian. Now about 20 miles doon river.

I went from a cig-a-like to this kit.

The price was the equivalent of about 3 days smoking for me.
I am still using that kit 6 months down the line and each battery (there are two in the kit) last me about 10 hours of vaping.

If you can use something more cigar-sized - like lobey's post - I'd do that; if it seems too pricey maybe www.vapeescape.co.uk/the-ve-riva-1100-deluxe-kit~151. It will give you a better experience than the cig-alikes and will be cheaper in the long run.

If you don't think you can manage anything that doesn't look and feel something like a cigarette then you need a PCC kit like linzmac suggests, but personally I'd get 3 batteries on top of the one it comes with and a battery charger jacvapour.com/all-products/accessories/usb-charger-for-the-v3.html

Some good advice so far, but I'm not sure about the Jacvapour kit, I'm not sure if it has the most common 510 connection If you stick to a 510 connection then it's easy to upgrade bits of your kit over time without having to completely buy everything again!

Sometimes it is not just about upgrading our e-cigs from cig-a-like to a "proper" e-cig, but it is also about upgrading our image as well.

In the past there were a number of dummy cigarettes ranging from yon white sweeties with the red tips, to ciggies that you were supposed to fondle while you were trying to give up smoking.

Other people were continuely asking me if I was giving up smoking when they saw me with a cig-a-like.

No one has asked me that since I started using my ego system.
Oh sure I have been asked what it is, but no one has mistaken it for a dummy fag.

I wear my e-cig on a lanyard so everyone I meet can see it hanging on my chest.
Most of the villagers now know I vape as I often do so when out walking the dogs. They can see it is not a cigarette and I guess that most of them think it is one of yon new fangle e-cig thingies.

Very helpful forum here. My colleague saw my kit today and ordered the same - only had it in white or pink though. Wish I'd come on here today for alternatives.

I needed a long life battery as well and got the riva 1100 kit which comes with 2 batteries. Loving it so far, and since I set it up yesterday morning I have forgotten about my roll ups - great feeling this morning not running about looking for papers, filters and a lighter!!! I also ordered 10 different flavour sample bottles but think I've knacked my taste buds by trying them all. Got a favourite though so will probably buy larger quantity of that and see how it goes.
