I had exactly the same problems you have posted plus the fact I couldn't get it into 18350 mode, also I had the getting hot at the base issue. I could live with the mode issue but not the power cutting. I got mine from china through another forum member so I didn't have the luxury of our quality uk vendors posting on any replacement springs.
A hot spring sourced here fixed my heat/power issues and cost £1.75.
The forum member emailed the Chinese vendor, who sent another base cap and spring which sorted the 18350 mode and gave me a spare spring, can't fault the Vamo and have used 2. I think china are doing great in the 6 months since I started, when I started vaping I only wanted the US/Greek stuff but now I'll gladly use china.
I'd also like to point out that I've had 2 or 3 faulty items replaced by our uk vendors, without even mentioning consumer rights.

The Vamo is very good device electronically..Most of them just need the spring sorting out..The symptoms of switching off at random arise from the battery making intermittent contact as the supplied spring is weak and the weight of the battery causes the spring to compress and lose contact like Gordy posted.
The Sigelei Zmax suffers from similar issues though to a much smaller extent..
A strong and low resistance spring will sort the issue out. Not saying that there are no duff ones, but by and large the Vamo has proven to be a great device for the money.
If they sort out the ergonomics of the fire button placement and supply a 18490 extension tube, it would be a fantastic device.

i have the vammo, bought from jason ,had a issue with it,contacted him and it was sorted within minutes with replacement battery arriving 24 hours later then a day later a free large spring which was never a problem but he just sent out of good will, since then its been a great machine. my point is , the majority of vendors if contacted sort things promptly before you ever need to mention consumer rights

Have 2 vamos' for past few months, not had any problems except, with stacking the 18350's it would cut out, one was dodgy, also remeber the vamo uses unprotected bats,or it will cut out on low ohms so i read somewhere same as this V1 -V2, the v1 had the grommit in it the V2 was the spring change

Hey Jake, I ordered from the same vendor and mine arrived doa, I rang him half an hour after it arrived and he immediately sent out a replacement and a box and bag to send the old one back. No hurry for the old one he said, at your convenience. Great service that. I have it now and it's working fine. The original one only arrived on Thursday and I'm sat vaping the new one today (sat). He also paid the postage for the return, I just have to stick it in the bag he send it so I'm sure he'll see you alright mate.
Chris.

Got my Vamo yesterday and must admit it is a brilliant bit of kit.
Will take me a while to suss out the best settings to suit me as I was getting a burnt taste to start with but when I set it right down it was a fantastic vape.
Once I have a chance to study the user guide that was kindly posted on an earlier thread it will be even better....TBH can't wait

I have had the vamo's now for over a month no problems at all the only thing I would say I wish someone would make a end cap to take 18500's as 18350 dont last long enough.

Jake,
It's not always the best idea to jump to conclusions about vendors...
As for not buying Chinese-made goods: none of us would be vaping without their invention.
They've done me proud really.
37 years of heavy smoking has been kicked to touch now for the last three years.

Just to add the second bit: "EDITED Due to over the top drunken rant last night after an exceptionally bad day at work, high expectations of the VAMO and a big disappointment of it going tips up.
Apologize to anyone who may have been offended, re reading it through I sounded like a right prat. But needles to say I have taken on board what you all have said and will be trying a new hot spring to see if that makes any difference."
:-[ :-[ as I said, was a very pants day... Think all the stresses of the house move have finally caught up combined with some vodka was not so good. Mental note: do not post anything on forum under the influence :-[

Just checked my inbox and the vendor seems pretty happy to help out, he wanted to know if I am using protected or IMR batts so will reply and see how it goes.
I am not so sure if the spring is the problem as the battery fits nicely inside with good connection to both positive and negative terminals. I have tried the batts out in my LT and its running fine without cutting out or loss of power so I think I can ruel them out.
It is a strange issue, I put the batts in and the display flashed once or twice which it did from day one (I think that is normal). Then do the 5 or so clicks to turn it on and all is good, display shows on and then sets to the default VV setting. I put it up to my desired spot around 3.6 / 3.9v and take a few vapes and its fine, then if I have a pause for more than 10 seconds try again and nothing it has completely shut down... It also seems to do it randomly when turning it on I can be in the middle of the first 5 or 7 second long vape and it will just cut out. As I said above the batteries are not rattling and from what I can see the connection to both ends are good. I have used both my rebuildables that are not showing any errors on my provari and used multiple other ends like my vivinova and ego tanks.
So what I should have said from the start taking all the symptoms into consideration what would you suggest?

Persevereance, for what mine cost me less than 25 quid it's hardly worth sending back, I've had my money's worth already, do you have the hot spring in it as these do make a massive differance, saying that mine started giving me a very hot vape the other night, every thing was burnt, even if turned right down, there was a differance at 15 watts though, I reckon there is a glitch with the board, and at the moment mine is having a holiday and I'm on the Juno

Another Vamo fan here. Got mine from Jason on Xmas eve. Had the same issue with the power in 18650 mode - if it was 'jiggled' at all it would switch off - but Jason sent me a hot spring and fixed the issue. Thanks Jason! I'm more than happy with it now. In fact, the only problem I have with it is that it seems to be stuck in my hand. Makes typing quite difficult!

I have two Vamos now and i absolutely love them as they are solid workhorses.I did have the turning off issue with my chrome one as it had the rubbish little spring fitted. If you fit a hot spring or buy one of the end caps with the updated spring from HC then i am positive your vamo will work perfectly. My two have never missed a beat, not one single misfire, great value for the small price i paid IMHO.
