I've already used welded wires for Genesis atty's too an work brilliant, no more hot spots. After a few and measuring you can get the length of res wire perfect too.

I really couldn't say because i've not used ribbon kanthal myself so not tested it in a Zapper, I would hazard a guess at yes though as I cannot see why it wouldn't. Maybe someone that as a Zapper also as some ribbon to test.

I should think it would make a more secure join welding two flat surfaces rather than two round ones

there's half a dozen finished sat here looking at me, just waiting on the croc clips which should be here tomorrow, so I should get them posted tomorrow too.
They should have been here thursday but supplier was short a few battery holders so decided to wait 'til saturday to tell me and hold back the whole order, I contacted him and got them sent today first class.

Hmmmm a zapper. Sounds so familiar....

BTW the 15K is not only for discharge but to bleed down the voltage to a set value in case you over-shoot the target voltage.
A 1K would give you a quicker discharge but the 15K is better for a slower bleed down to the desired target voltage.

Not true. A LOW input impedance meter would cause draining. Use a meter w/ 10M or more input impedance

I know mate but I think most of us here don't have high (ish) end meters, I have a couple, one is cheap crap but the other is a half decent one, both must below impedance as they both cause draining.

I was thinking of using one of them to build in to the zapper to check voltage and check Ohm's afterwards, but not sure if it's really worth it, also have an LED meter that i'll probably use.
