I have decided to get in to mixing , i have everything i need bar My base liquid which is on its way from the USA.
Started reading up on recipe's and techniques and came across the following post on ECF.
(Aldi have the Ultrasonic machines on sale from tomorrow, got to get one, will be great for cleaning attys alone as in Todds recent video).
Has anyone mastered the ultrasonic steeping method yet?
My method (using the Jame ultrasonic cleaner 7000) which has so far 100% steeped all the flavours I've tried is to:
Day 1 - Diy the liquid - Leave top off and leave in a cold dark cupboard for 24 hours
Day 2 - place into ultra sonic cleaner (with hot tap water) next to my computer while i work and run it constantly for 2 - 3 hours on 8 minute cycles. The cleaner keeps the water warm
Day 3 - repeat day 2. - steep complete
I mix at 15% flavouring (TPA) but using this method, I believe I can reduce this to 10%. Some flavours even less as they are too strong at 15% using this steeping process
Prior to this using 15 - 20% I tried warm bathing, leaving top off in dark cupboard, leaving to steep for a week, all of which produced that flavourless pg/vg taste.
Cheers for sharing this great technique.. next step.. to get the James 8060 with temp control / 30 minute timer and deeper capacity for larger bottles.

I got this one before Xmas 1/2 hr cycles and heater up to 80c but never take it up that high www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2L-Professional-Industrital-Ultrasonic-Cleaner-Bath-with-Basket-Uk-Stock-/170950238277?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item27cd6da045I usually mix mine and put straight in the UC but i will try your meathod gillas I mix mine and tie them to the top of the cage to stop them floating with sandwich bag ties with lids and droper off just leave them in there for a few hours and just let the water heat up its self never let the water go over 45c, if it does i take some water out and put cold in..When i mixing with the UC i put my 306's and novas in there to clean Once the mix have been in there for 3hrs..I put them in a warm dark place for 24hrs settle with lids and droppers off.. Tobacos seem do take 2/3days till they change color but im still expermenting with tobacos flavouring.. I disovle my MC and EM in the UC just put them in glass beaker and add pg tie to cage and let the UC do the work They only thing i say is my makes a horrible noise like a tattoo gun,,But i love mixing with it..i could never wait 2/3weeks.. Made 40ml of PVC one in a 10ml and 30ml(left to steep the hard way) put the 10ml in the UC for 3hrs and it has turned the darkish orange the next day and the one in the 30ml as not reached that color and its coming up to two weeks

Thanks for that Karl23111
Just to point out it was not my method it was copied from a post on ECF
There seems to be a lot of posts on the subject and steeping is reduced from 3 weeks to 3 days or less!

I enjoy the wait and the anticipation, trying my flavours at various stages, deciding whether they'll need more or less of something . . . it's probably me being a stick in the mud, maybe I'll dig my UC out and give it a bash next time I have a mixing session Gillas . . . There's no wrong or right way, just what's best for you.

Have you tried using it for cleaning attys, Toddd did a video and it looks the biz.
I think it may even clean S/S mesh, if it does may be able to use mesh over & over again.
Buying one tomorrow, can't wait to try it out

I don't even use it for cleaning jewellery now Gillas . . . got sick of the noise and the time it took, so it got shoved in a cupboard and has stayed there ever since. 306's I pop in a denture tablet bath and they last for ages, 901/510's I bin when they're deaded . . . other than those it's rebuildables. But that's me, I'm sure you'll enjoy yours more than this old woman does.

On another note, does the UC clean coils?

On another note, does the UC clean coils? Can't see why it wouldn't. Problem would be on a rebuildable if it frees the crap off the mesh it will fall in the tank and you would have to remove the coil to clean the tank out. Have you seen Todds video @ www.toddsreviews.com/2013/01/ultrasonic-cleaners.html

Yes Gillas, I have watched that, but what I am thinking of is cleaning clearos and bottom coiled clearos. Rather than stick them away for later use after just washing them under running water, also giving tham a blast in the UC. Then, once dry, stashing them away.

Is it me? I cannot for the life of me see what difference this machine makes to cleaning anything, you can get the same results simply by soaking the items in the same solution overnight. IMO it is just another gadget that I do not need, I agree with perps, old methods are the best. # #

Yeah, it's you The vibrations from the machine shake out all the little bits of crud in the places that you cant really get to too easily.
