I've just spent the last couple of days browsing and lurking here, and now I've joined. What a nice lot you are. So much helpful information for a vaper on training wheels. I've been a smoker for more than 30 years, but am ready to give the filthy things the flick. My OH bought me a couple of Ritchy ERA ecigs for Christmas and I've just gotten around to firing them up. I'm in Australia and the purchase of nicotine products that aren't cigarettes, cigars etc is illegal, but some ecig retailers are happy to "give" you some nicotine with your purchase. When I tried my ecigs with non-nic juice I had no problem using them, but of course, there was no happy "hit" Now I have some cartomisers with 18mg of nicotine in them and I find that the first few puffs just about choke me, and a serious coughing fit ensues. So, friendly experts, is it a matter of just persisting, do I have a terrible product, am I just doing it wrong? I'm still smoking cigarettes, and am trying to vape to make the need for a cigarette come further and further apart. I would love to hear from some experts! Thanks.

Hello and #welcome2# Not sure, haven't been vaping that long., but you could try and take a slow intake and hold it in your mouth rather than taking it into your lungs what juice are you using? Someone will be along with a better idea shortly

Hi art [/IMG] , I think it may be because you are smoking it like a real cig, slow inhale, don't take it down then let it out Well done , what a pain about the nicotine though, can you import yourself or is that not allowed too Hope this helps from a very soggy, wet but considerably warmer than it has been England

Hi and welcome Vaping is different from smoking and isn't an exact replacement so takes time for your body to get used to it. To start with take slow but shallow pulls into your mouth and if you inhale, blow it out of your lungs quicker. Give it some extra time between puffs to let the atomiser cool as well. Throat hit comes form the nic level of the juice but also the heat of the vapour and tends to hit harder on the way out than in I find. The cooler the vapour is the closer to air temp and the less it hits you. Once you're used to that then you can start very long slow, multiple pulls and start really caning it But start gently till it's not such a shock the the system, your body and mind will get used to it. Stick with it though, it's really worth it and congrats on getting off analogues but don't worry too much about it and put yourself under pressure. You are still a nicotine user the only difference is every normal cig you don't smoke is improving your health

Thanks everyone. I'll keep at it and keep reading the posts and hopefully become a first class vaper.

Hello & welcome Art As others have said, it's best to draw the vapour into your mouth & hold it there for a few seconds before taking it back.

Hi Artfunk. Welcome aboard. Where in Australia are you? I used to live in Adelaide and Sydney. Returned to UK in 2009. I find i get the best out of vaping by drawing vapour into my mouth holding it there and then taking one breath through my nose before inhaling it into my lungs.

Hi Artfunk and welcome. If you want more supplies you would probably best to buy direct from China. A couple of good reliable vendors that carry a wide range of stock are: www.healthcabin.net/and www.heaven-gifts.com/There are loads of others but you might find these interesting to browse around. Chinese vendors are "imaginative" when it comes to describing their products on dispatch documentation

The fact you are coughing might be a good sign. When I started on e-cigs, I sucked it on back for about 10 seconds and never felt a thing. (hmmm, maybe I chose a bad brand..... ) You'll get used to it, and adjust your style no doubt. Basically, lots of vapour is mostly a good thing and rubbish e-cigs don't produce much. Therein lies a small problem but it gets easier in time. Just like when we all started smoking.....(probably)......
