Just a little advice keep an eye on you vivi nova's cuz this isn't good don't want any ill vapers ive contacted my vender and he is as concerned about this as we all are, he's sending me anouther vivi and im returning this so he can run some tests on it, our concern is , it may be the juice im using thats disolving the plating that covers the copper , I don't want to name the liquid as I don't know for sure if its that thats causing it, and im also not saying what vender it is , as its not his fault, ive had a few pm's asking me who the vender is sorry but im not going to reply to these pm's. as soon as I know anymore I'll post on this thread , happy vaping There's not many juices you like, Bomber, must be easy for us to narrow it down with a bit of forum searching ... :-) ahh but which one is it, there's a few I like now and ive tryed many .

I think this has become a bit hot headed of a debate. Both MaccaFan and Edge have good points and Its hard to judge who is correct. MaccaFan is a very knowledgeable person, however Edge 'apparently' (no pun intended as I dont know you) has 25 years experience in that field, who to trust?... tough one really.

Coming from a readers point of view that is, so neither MaccaFan or Edge take offense, I am mearly talking in ignorance.

To be honest I wouldn't like to be vaping copper hence why I give the heads up. it maybe harmfull , or it maynot be. I certainly wouldn't like to take the risk, But I certainly don't think it would be good for you.

This is why I have a generally crap attitude to china products and try and go for the more expensive items. Hopefully people will see my method in my madness now. But needless to say I will still keep using the novas but will keep a vigilant eye on them from now on. [Edit to add: If the likes of Bulli etc made a vivi nova replica but made from the same quality SS as their other products I would be first in line.... You go cheap with china expect cheap materials. Enough said really....]

Just wrote a long post re knowing which of them I trust from past experience and knowledge of just how knowledgeable Macca is when it comes to vaping related stuff, and how even if it turns out that he is wrong I'd rather be safe than sorry! But then I lost it so this is a much condensed version of my lost post.

As many are aware that I collect dead e-cig related stuff to cannabalize. I have seen several examples of plated stuff in a degraded state with the chrome layer vanished and a deposit of copper salts which I know to be toxic.
So my question is very simple and based more on observation and common sense rather than hard scientific analysis..Where did that vanishing layer of chromium go? I know it was there when new and I know it's gone now.
I don't know for certain but I am pretty certain it is leaching into the juice therefore I wouldn't go around advising that it is safe. If anyone has an alternate explanation, I would like to hear it and so would the vaping community.

Well my theory is that it's similar to how some liquids react with the polycarbonate tanks.
Bomber got his STV from us, so when he contacted me I took a screwdriver to a few Nova/STV caps and with varying degrees of pressure scratched through the plating.
Nothing appears untoward, in that the copper layer must be very thin because I didn't expose it on any of them - even with the most gentle scratches.
I then left the caps soaking in a few different e-liquids overnight and on one of them there is a copperish hue to the scratches this morning.
I've also closely examined all the Nova's we've been using in the shop over the past few months, with various liquids in and they are all pristine.
I'll let you know more when we've done a bit more experimenting.

On this cap its like the paint or plate is disolving and is bubbling up , so I feal jason may have a point , but this is not a liquid stain or hue its def copper that is being revield, I feal vivi novas should be made of SS , Im not liking the thought that ive been vaping the paint or silver looking plate into my lungs and maybe some of that copper when I bought this vivi I bought the two and the one that has had the most use has revealed the copper, now im keeping a close eye on the other and in hope there wont be any sigh of it happening again , if it does what do I do where do I go from there is there SS ones on the market ??

Well, I've had a couple of VNs for the past couple of months and they've been in hard use - one in particular was my favourite and got the brunt of it. I paid full price for these, from trustworthy vendors, and I assume got the genuine articles. There's not a trace of the plating eroding or wearing, so I'm still feeling ok about them.

In light of this I though I'd check all my novas, I have a couple of mk1s from back when they were first conceived and 4 mk2s and 2 of the mk3 stvs, I cleaned the top cap from all of them and there's not a trace of any problem what so ever, They all came up shiny new. The only juices that make it into a nova for me are cocomel, whiskey cream, candy twist, Gvc, arctic honey & black cat. None of these have acidic qualities. May be an idea to post the juices that you have been using and anybody else that's got this issue post the the juice that they were using and then we can try to get to the bottom of this. I was expecting a mass of "mines doing this too" posts but it's strangely quiet

I was expecting a mass of "mines doing this too" posts but it's strangely quiet I think it's encouraging that there aren't a lot of people saying they are finding the same. Hopefully it indicates that it's not a type of juice that is dissolving the plating and just a rare one that got through QC.

My two 3-4 month old ones are fine,I use 1 mainly for tobacco flavours, the other has has caramel or butterscotch, lloks like it may be a case of certain types of juices with certain types of atties.
