Firstly thanks for the very warm welcomes! Decided to go for a wander up to LF, little tricky to find if you don't know stockport but if you know where RicherSounds is your nearly there! Kirstee was very helpful filling in the blanks and unfortunately explained they only had the single kits in. Decided to take the plunge and got the single ego. Tried out a cherry menthol juice (getting the hang on the lingo!) which was very nice and smooth so had that (in now actually!). First impressions? Well I think I've missed out 4 analogues tonight would have been more but felt I would change around compare normal smokes to the vape. Funny thing and maybe it's a trick of the mind but after vaping for 2 smokes then having a normal smoke, the normal tasted bad! Didn't think I'd notice the difference that quickly especially after smoking for so long! What next? Well I'll be a little less impatient and take the advice and grab the Riva kit from VE as the other half has allowed some spending! (This was after some discussion.. She's a non-smoker but also a nurse so had to do her own digging and has got the incentive to find out why this route isn't suggested or endorsed by the NHS) So thinking the Riva 1100 kit, a few more sample juices. Just got to get my head around cartomisers and atomisers before I drop VE a message. Thanks for the advice so far and I'll be back for more you can bet on that!

You are in the right place unseen - I joined a week ago after a friend started to vape instead of ciggies. Having seen people try e-litres one minute and be back on the fags the next I had kind of dismissed the idea. I know I'm only just past the 2 day mark but the desire for a stinky just isn't there. I was sceptical but so far I'm delighted with the results!
My advice would be that when you run out of fags just don't buy any more! Stick with the vaping and you'll soon forget about them!

Exactly the way I was thinking mucky!.. The local boozebuster where I normal grab the stinkys from does the e-lites and I was always skeptical of those as to me they're too cig-a-like. Guy I work with has had a Skycig or equivalent and he's back on the stinkys. So now I need to find a guide on the various bits

Wish you all the best mate. If you ever need any help I live in Oldham so probably not that far away from you. Don't hesitate to ask. I struggled with vaping for a while until I found the right juice. It can be a difficult quest as we all have different tastes. I can't recommend www.thealchemistscupboard.co.uk enough. Really high quality eliquid.

Hi sorry for hijacking your thread but also looking to take the plunge to. Is the Riva 1100 a good place to start. I would love my husband and myself to get off real cigarettes.

Hi Toffee, welcome to AAEC The Riva 1100 from vapeescape is very well thought of from new vapers. Code 'allabout' will give you 10% discount, you will also need some e-liquid. Feel free to start your own thread if you need any more advice

The Riva is a great kit, if that's what you decide on you'll get a good introduction to vaping. To get your head round cartomisers and atomisers. They both look very similar, generally a 1-2 inch metal tube and both actually contain an atomiser head. The difference is that the pure atomiser requires you put a few drops in at a time and then vape, which means a very frequent topping up procedure, whereas the cartomiser contains a wadding material which holds a larger volume of liquid which surrounds the atomiser thus allowing for longer periods between filling up. There are more advanced atomisers/cartos and tank systems, but in the basic sense that is the way to differentiate. Hope it helps.

Welcome to the 1st step of vaping ! Don't be nervous to ask questions - I was in the same boat just over a month ago It's a great kit. If you and your husband are both looking to start vaping it might be worth looking at combining certain elements of that kit rather than buying 2 though. Might be worth doing your own post so that people can recommend something depending on what you're looking for - which flavours/how many batteries/etc. Whatever you decide good luck !

Have been vaping for a few days now and really enjoying it. My hubby not getting on so well he finds it very harsh and coughs a lot.Hopefully he can soon get the hang off it.

Hi Toffee.
Is your hubby drawing like a cig or taking a slower draw on the e-cig ?
There's a quite different technique on e-cigs which is not the same as ciggies. Even though they both give a very similar 'hit', e-cigs need something more akin to 'sucking on a milkshake' for a few seconds rather than drawing it back in a quick draw. Maybe that's why he's getting the harsh hit ?
Try just taking a 3-4 second draw into the mouth, then stop toking, take a small inhale (to start with) then exhale. They can be quite harsh to start with.
Hope that helps some.

Toffeepops, sounds like he is directly taking the vapour into the back of his throat. It's best, at least to begin with, to draw the vapor into your mouth, hold it there first for a couple of seconds Edit - snap Figgis

Toffee, my bloke is doing exactly the same, he's not the most patient of men and I think that's his problem plus he's been smoking a looooong time. I'm working on him though and I'm sure it will come as will yours

I find the direct inhale with a long slow draw the best "hit", my Riva's sometimes flash at me I draw sooo long. You can loosen your lips on the driptip a touch to get a little extra air in if its too harsh.
Also, I found my stinkies (Golden Virginia rollies) started tasting awful after a day or so, it was amazing.
