Unfotunately we live in a world where expert opinion is worth more than the public voice.
I have a 15 year old son who has been caught smoking several times but has not touched my vaping gear. I asked him and some of his friends about e-cigs and they consider them to be "a bit gay"
Not one case exists of somebody dying from a vaping related illness and there are now 1 million less UK smokers but fags are ok and e-cigs are bad!
There is no record of anyone in this country ever using canabis and then glassing or raping someone, but pot is bad and beer is ok!
The vaccine for bovine TB is 90% effective, 70% of infected badgers would have to be culled for a 10% drop in cattle infection but were having a cull anyway!
Quarantine of foot and mouth farms is 100% as effective as slaughter but we still had big cow bonfires!
Hand guns are banned in this country although less than 1% of UK gun crime has ever involved licenced firearms!
I AM STARTING TO HATE EXPERTS AND POLITICIANS!!!
(and not having splee check!)

I don't get the 'normalizes smoking' debate. It does bear resemblance to smoking, sure. But so does breathing on a cold day. So does car exahuast.
If anything, vaping denormalizes smoking. By drawing attention to an act that looks the same, and feels the same, without the detrimental side-effects, it calls into question a smokers justification for continuing to smoke.
It would be inconceivable for someone to mistakenly light up in a pub because someone else was vaping. In fact, the act of smoking becomes further ostracized by comparison. They are forced outside, while vapers are allowed to remain indoors.
Further to this argument, as vaping becomes more normalized in the smoking community and more people switch, there will be greater pressure on the remaining members to consider the switch as well.
And lets be clear on this matter, we are not talking about the smoker/non-smoker guilt divide, where all the non-smokers make the smoker feel guilty for not quitting. That methodology does not work, and likely serves to further entrench the mentality of the smoker.
Instead, we must focus on the smoker/ex-smoker(vaper) divide. It is a strange phenomenon, but I have never encountered one member of this community to make an vaper feel guilty about having a cigarette, or even making a smoker feel guilty for that matter. Correct me if I am wrong, but the militarism that is present in non-smoking community is non-existent in the vaping community. As such, we are the vanguard for converting the smokers. The greater in numbers we grow, and the more normal it becomes to vape, the die-hard smoking community will turn to this alternative as a viable option because the guilt of smoking will grow to large. It will take a peer group to demonstrate the way forward, and make the smoker feel odd for continuing the habit.
Vaping will de-normalize smoking.

As myhquel says, Vaping will de-normalize smoking, the rate of transfer from smoking to vaping is incredible , I myself know of at least a dozen converts in the last month alone in my social circle, I cannot see any reason or know of any person who do not smoke take up vaping, only nic addicts, vaping will become the norm over smoking, providing the powers that be don't ruin it.

But body language expert Judi James says people should tread carefully. Even someone putting an unlit cigarette in their mouth can upset people nowadays, she says. Anyone wanting to smoke an e-cigarette at work should inform colleagues first what they're doing

If I'm at work I don't ask permission but if I'm in the office or near management I stealth vape, in the canteen I openly vape and fog the place up on occasions, no one has complained yet even when they are eating so it's not that offensive. It's been a good way to introduce smokers to the joys of vaping, what smokers aren't fascinated when they've got to go out in the cold and someone is sat around the people eating lunch blowing out plumes of "smoke"? I'd love to ask the management about being able to vape at the desk but the MD is an ANTZ so best to keep it stealth. The other smokers just find it amusing that I've got the balls to openly vape indoors but anyone who knows me at work knows I'm a proud vaper and don't try and hide it when I don't have to.

I agree. The conversion at the moment is HUGE. There are countries where a vast demographic are quitting smoking for e-cigs. I am beginning to feel (I have no reason to back this up) that IF the EU TD can be stalled, by the time NCPs are outlawed, there will be so many people using e-cigs, that protests and rallys could be realistically possible. I say, let's get millions vaping, then bring down some governments. Power to the people!
