I caught this article 1st thing this morning. I think it was a good attempt at being impartial. Although it bugs me when people who admit to not knowing or understanding the technology call for it to be 'taken off the shelves or very heavily regulated'. Agreed. I saw it. Interesting that an organisiation committed to not advertising (BBC) did a fair job of placing VIP in our faces quite a few times. One thing I would comment on though, and did so after I saw the clip, is that the BMA are simply not in a position to actively encourage e-cigs. They can't (because unless they are guaranteed 100% safe, why take the risk?)....so I for one no longer take any notice of BMA comments. Overall, a good piece. All I want to really know is When will tv and radio get over the whole mini e-cig thing and start showing/talking about people vaping with proper gear? You'd think the world began and ended with flippin' skycigs and VIPs.

Ideally the word E cigarette would be better off being disassociated with vaping and the sooner the better, after all it is neither smoking or a cigarette, ecigs as we know them cig alike's or what ever would be better off not being produced, as its existence damages the all image of the personal vaporiser as we really know them, so the sooner these cig alike things disappear the better in my opinion, but it may already be to late.

Yeah could do with a firm dividing line between e-cigs and vaping.
Although I would never have got into vaping if it hadn't been for starting with an e-cig?

sent the bbc breakfast team the forums so maybe they could come and see for themselves, that most on Ecig route do not use look alikes and how un status friendly to a lot of teenagers, plus did make a note that ecigs are only sold to anyone aged 18 and over already
but all in all did think it was a good review, but do notice how this has started to come more and more into the media
as for all these scientific tests etc everyones worrying about, they have already been done, hence why only thing thats vulnerable is the nic, but as someone on UKV pointed out this is already pharma produced

My sons aged 15 and 18 are very pleased I have started vaping as they hate me smoking and have nagged me to give up for a long time. Neither smokes or hopefully are likely to.
I would however put the same age limits on it as smoking as if a youngster is seen vaping how long would it be before one of their mates said - here try a proper fag!
Nicotine is an addiction and although all the worst bits of smoking come from the tobacco I feel that if they don't start they won't get tempted by peer pressure.
I know I'm a newbie but this is a mothers opinion

The way I look at it is Nicotine is a drug but so is alcohol. What's to stop kids being tempted to start drinking after-all that's still glamorised all the time. Last I checked there was a legal age for buying alcohol and no one thinks of banning it. Smoking/ e-cigs/ nicotine is the same (although Nic is more addictive but a lot less destructive in the short term as an addiction.)
Kids will always want to do what they aren't allowed, at least with vaping they will be limiting damage to themselves.
If my boy starts smoking when he's older I can't really say much, punitive measures don't work as my Mum and Dad will attest so if he starts smoking i guess I'll encourage him towards vaping, legal or not.
Dilemma though...

Hi all
I have read the article and it completely contradicts its self may i quote the article:
""Nicotine itself is not a particularly hazardous drug," says Professor John Britton, who leads the tobacco advisory group for the Royal College of Physicians.
"It's something on a par with the effects you get from caffeine.
"If all the smokers in Britain stopped smoking cigarettes and started smoking e-cigarettes we would save 5 million deaths in people who are alive today. It's a massive potential public health prize."
So what don't they get?
Vaping that could save live's or anolog cigarettes that kill Der!
