Buying a Riva, Need advice on Juice flavours.

Hi MrMshaw and welcome.

Romelee gives good advice on the HS Storm, a very strong flavour that my missus is currently starting out on. (I've tried it and it certainly has a ciggie like feel to it, which might be ideal for the first try at vaping as it's very strong).

My advice for any newbie is to buy at least one Menthol flavour. It doesn't matter which one to be honest, but when you first start a Menthol is brilliant at cutting through any deadened taste buds so you can actually sense the vape. You probably know after you reading that taste gets knackered from smoking and at first a lot of flavours do taste of nothing much so a good strong Menthol is ideal to cut through it all.

My aversion to Menthol comes from a night of over indulgence of Whisky and Menthol Cigs when I was a teenager. You can guess the rest and I've not been near either since. Just the smell of either makes me queazy.

I've ordered a flavour called Mintoff, I'll let you know if it's a definite mint or whether it has menthol tendencies. You might get away with something minty as long as it doesn't have the menthol vapour thing going on?

Ragmo makes a good point above. There are a lot of Peppermint/Extra Stong mint juices about which would be just as effective without the bad associations that you have with pure Menthol flavours. I actually don't order 'pure' Menthols myself, but I always have some Mint type flavour about - one other good thing about it is you can add it to a juice you don't particularly like and use it up rather than just bin it and as for the day I found out how good it tastes mixed with Coconut flavours, well, let's just say that was a happy vaping day

There are hundreds of different flavour out there. I have been only vaping for a week, so a new by as well.

Virginia from VE is quite nice, quite mellow, HS mentol sensation quite strong. Energy cow quite like red bull.

I would recommend buying loads of of samples once you get your kit, search the forum for different websites and discount codes. Vapourtine has a 40% off code good for juice but not for accessories.

Welcome aboard MrMshaw, Riva kit is great for people starting out and those batteries should last at least a day if not more before they need a charge.

So many flavours out there, i have a draw of them now and i keep going back and trying the ones i didn't like at the start.
Remember your taste buds are on the change now from giving up the fags so juices that you don't like now you may find you like in a month or 2 months time.
Any you really do not like you can swap or sell in the classifieds on here.

Welcome Mrmshaw. Ive only been vaping 3 weeks and also ordered the riva kit. I have ordered 14 different tobacco flavours from a number of vendors and Grizwalds Black Cat is my current favourite, not really like a cigarette taste as it has a subtle liquorice after taste but it has great flavour and throat hit. The nearest I have found to cigarette taste is Paradise Vapes Royals, nice vape without any real food flavouring after taste. However, I bought a iGo-L Rebuildable Dripping Atomizer a few days ago and am revisiting all my samples as it seems to bring out the flavours more. Good luck with your search.

I thought I would only want tobacco flavours when I started but now the only one
I regularly use is a blueberry tobacco one the rest are all non tobacco flavours.

Don't give up on any juices you don't like at the start try them again in a few weeks
if you still dislike them try mixing them with something else. 2 of my original
tobacco juices were horrible but mixed one with cherry and the other with caramel
and they were lovely.

Hi The Phoenix, thank you for the welcome and encouragement.

I only ordered the 5ml Grizwald's samples to try and find one that's a suitable substitute, so I think they are 18mg, medium strength?
After reading through the forums yesterday and the advice here, I think the Riva will be a permanent body attachment for a week or two.
Once I find one, or several that I like I'll buy the larger bottles at a higher strength if need be.

And yep you are right, I am quite excited. Especially at the thought of not coughing my lungs up every single morning and then immediately reaching for a smoke afterwards.
