Are there stringent rules for where to store the bottles of Nic Base, PG & Vg?.....i.e. cool dark place?...I have mine sitting on a shelf in my bedroom out of the ( non existent ) sun.

Long term storage 2+years, the freezer in glass bottles. Otherwise the fridge maybe if you have your home heated to tropical temperatures, but generally away from a direct heat source, sunlight . . . a cool dark place is adequate Chris.

You can do if you're stocking up on VG/PG Chris, I see no reason to do that as Supplies will continue to be available as they're used in numerous other applications . . . so a cool dark place I use for those.

Hi Chris, hope your well.
People are storing their nic either in fridge or freezer, if its the freezer make sure its in a bottle and not plastic as the plastic bottles can burst. I have mine in the fridge where the vegetables should go only because my veg is in a tin or in the freezer. The colder the place the longer the life with nic apparently. I see a group expedition to the north pole taking place in the future.

I haven't had a plastic bottle burst yet Stamina got to say, though I've transferred my stores into glass bottles, as the nicotine is less likely to lose it's strength and the plasticizers leech into it.
PM posted an excellent study written by some boffin in the know on all this, can't remember which thread it was now though . . . Dave may post it again if he reads this thread.

I wouldn't have thought the plastic bottles would burst in the freezer as the liquid doesn't freeze solid so doesn't expand that much!

The thread on nicotine storage Is allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/thread/15764/nicotine-storage?scrollTo=304821&page=1 with the quote from Kurt ECF on reply #5 [Edit to Add] - The thread above is re. long term storage, for general storage we recommend a cool, dark place, out of reach of children and pets.

Hi Perpetua, I will look forward to reading that study but I am sure I read somewhere about plastic bursting, no Idea where though. Glad you corrected me on the reasoning why glass is best. I feel re educated.

I've been reading that PG nic base won't freeze fully solid if kept in a freezer. I'm just wondering if this means it's OK to pull a large bottle out of the freezer and decant a small amount straight away? Or is it best to leave to thaw out completely before decanting?
The reason I ask is that I'm not sure whether the nic content and the PG content differ in the degree to which they freeze. If they do differ (ie, one becomes more solid than the other) then I'm concerned that liquid decanted from a bottle that's just come out of the freezer might have a weaker or stronger nic content than desired.
Does that make sense? If my question is unclear just let me know. I've never been any good at chemistry!
EDIT: Sorry, I had a follow up question which I forgot - if it's best to let thaw completely before decanting, is it OK to freeze again? Will repeated freezing and thawing have any adverse effects?]

Hi Kurotoshiro, It is best to take the bottle from the freezer and let it reach room temperature, then give it a good shake, prior to opening.
[Edit to add]: Yes you can put it back into the freezer again after decanting.
