Cheers, Davey! I've a talent for getting myself into all kinds of embarrassing trouble. Last thing I need is to be forcibly ejected from a hotel mid-vape! I remember nervously hanging out of a 4th floor bedroom one particularly frigid night when I couldn't face freezing my bits off outside, so I hauled the armchair over to this window that only opened halfway and squeezed as far out as I could so I was basically leaning my elbows on the roof slates while I snuck a fag. Kept expecting the alarms to go off at any second, madly wafting my arms around in what must have resembled some bizarre aerial breaststroke. Then a dog on the street below suddenly started barking like crazy and I tried to jerk backwards in a panic, didn't realise that my fat arse was pretty much wedged secure, so I wacked my shoulders on the glass and ended up scraping my dress right back over my head, arms pinioned and still clutching the lit fag. Finished up in a tumble on the bedroom floor, hooded in a burnt dress and writhing around trying to make sure the butt was out. So much for a stress-busting smoke! This vaping business all all sounds rather wonderful, being able to sit in the warmth and blow big clouds of Ferrero Rocher smelling vapour and the like everywhere. Like you say, though, shouldn't get my hopes up too much that it can magically just erase a cig habit that's been getting a deeper grip on me every day for, crikey, nearly 20 years now. I've only ever smoked menthols, same brand for years... can't stomach ordinary cigs and I think I need a big throat hit, so I've no idea if any of these lovely-sounding juices will hit the spot or not. At the end of the day, though, if vaping can even just help me cut the cig habit in half, I'd be happy. Won't hope for miracles, but any improvement is good news. GVC...GVC??!! You had me hopping around there for a good while! Then the rusty cogs suddenly clicked (see, I've been doing my fevered forum reading, I have) and, I -think- you are referring to the apparent nectar of the gods that is Grant's Vanilla Custard? I read a thread on here and the cult following almost made me kinda nervous. Really sounded like incredibly addictive stuff. I wonder what in the bejesus he puts in it?! I see his site is frozen at the moment - overwhelmed with orders I guess, so I'll to wait to get my sample. Steeping sounds frustrating! Sorry for daft newb questions, but do you really need to do it with every juice, they all benefit from kind of... maturing? You couldn't accelerate the process by, say, leaving them in direct warm sunlight, or very gently heating the bottles in water? And if they mature can they get a bit past it once they've been opened? I guess if there's a steeping sweet spot you could overdo it? Whole wide world of wisdom to be plucked and plumbed out here. Feel like I know nothing! Glanced through another thread tonight in Reviews that mentioned U wicks (?!) and more about the ohms and resistances and hits that sounded knee-knockingly good. Going to be a big, exciting learning curve! ) lol I've been in the same situation many times... well apart from the dress over the head thing I always felt like a naughty schoolboy behind the bikesheds when smoking in public (or where I shouldn't)I try to suppress that ingrained dirty feeling with vaping and I'm getting there

Grizwalds are amazing, you cant go wrong hehe. Too right. Though i'm on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Have had two samples of banoffee cream over the last month or so. Its deffo my fave, so i ordered a big bottle. Alas it requires serious steeping (unlike the samples) and my sample bottle is now empty. :-[ Seriously im checking it constantly with a colour chart and praying for it to go darker! I am sure i have seen a thread somewhere about speeding up steeping times by putting it in the washing machine on a spin cycle. Maybe in the tips and tricks section.

Nice setup you have there Biscuitcase, loads of goodies (me like goodies ), that lot should keep you going for quite some time. Wouldn't worry about steeping right now as i believe them Grizwalds samples are already steeped. You can tell you like menthol "Drip Tips Ribbon Drip Tips Green" Your gonna be like a kid with loads of new toys when it arrives, happy vaping.

I never smoked stinkies in my car because I have a child in it and hate the smell. But I happily vape away while he is in the car , although as smoking is illegal with a child in the car I kinda dont vape very openly as I would be scarlet if stopped even though vaping is fine. You will be fine vaping with riva no need to get a differant one for driving. I agree with you apart from smoking in the car with a child isn't illegal. It's stupid, insensitive and nasty. but not illegal (yet... government may decide to intrude on people's freedoms again and decided to not allow the option to use common sense sometime in the future ) I think it is illegal here www.independent.ie/irish-news/green-light-for-smoking-ban-in-cars-carrying-young-children-26869378.htmlmaybe I am wrong they definatly have had tons of debates about it recently I just thought it was banned

I guess if there's a steeping sweet spot you could overdo it? Not all juices require lots of steeping. I am only guessing here but but i would think it's particularly advantageous with sweeter juices and less so with menthol. I may be wrong on this tho. Again i'm not 100% sure but i think sunlight for steeping is a no-no. Warmth and darkness is ideal and preferably with the lids off. Not easy to achieve without an airing cupboard and even less so with young children in the house. Occasionally shaking the liquid also helps. And yes indeed the world famous GVC. It is rather nice (understatement of the year) but will never replace the true amber nectar of Banoffee Cream. You could indeed wait for the GVC site to come back up OR... You could PM me your address and i can send u a sample (well steeped.)

BC - you have a true cornucopia of delights in store for you when you touch UK soil! A great selection of samples too. I've just started mixing my own, and through my impatience, I can confirm that flavours do improve dramatically by steeping. I mixed some RY3 and Caramel about 2 weeks ago, tried some after a day (pfft!) and it was underwhelming to say the least. Tried it again yesterday, and wow, what a difference. More flavour of Caramel, and the RY3 is making an appearance too. Same with my 'Black and White' blend - Blackcurrant and White Chocolate. This has mellowed and deepened in taste after 10 days, to the extent that I immediately mixed up some more and put it at the back of the cupboard while I finish the first 20ml. I received a 10ml sample of GVC from a generous fellow vaper who had some to try and didn't like it. It was already steeped when I received it but it is still in the bottle unopened and the colour of dark orange brown - I just have to find the right occasion to start vaping it in my DCT! So yes, steeping is a necessary evil, and my advice is to think ahead and buy your second batch of juice as soon as your first arrives, so it can be steeping while you use the first lot. I'm thinking ahead to my next purchase, which will be all the ingredients required to make my own VC, thanks to Mandy on this forum who has helped me put together my shopping list! Hope this helps! Andy

Great thread Just spent the last hour reading it. You've asked lots of questions I hadn't thought of and I hadn't realised about 'steeping' my ejuices.

AH don't know about Ireland, but still legal in Britain. Although very much frowned upon. If smoking had not been allowed in cars all those years ago, I expect I wouldn't have started. The first time I tried a cigarette (JPS? Embassy?) I never coughed and just dragged on, puff after puff. This was because I was so used to ciggy smoke already. I find it sad (and I think that's the only word) that people think it's OK to smoke in their cars with kids. The smoke off the lit end is worse than that through the filter. Also, if my story is true, then you are effectively giving your kids a head start.....

My mother smoked through 5 pregnancies. It was all normal back then 2 out the the 5 werre smokers only 1 now am trying to convert him

Daveyboy - what a gent, thank you for that lovely offer! If it's in limited supply and it's as fab as it sounds, I'd feel bad sapping your stash, and a steeped sample at that, especially when I'm going to have more little bottles coming at me soon than I have brain cells. Or cartomisers! Would hate to leave you short, but that's such a kind gesture, thank you. You should drop me your addy so I can mail you some kind of baked goods the next time I get jiggy in the kitchen. Very occasionally the planets align nicely and I produce something that doesn't just stick to the roof of the oven. It'll probably reach you in a pile of crumbs, but I can try! kibbster - sometimes feeling a bit dirty can be rather nice. Ahem. Think I still have that defiant, immature streak about smoking in public... whenever anyone says something to me, just makes me more determined to light up another one. Was sitting on a sunny park bench one afternoon, minding my own business, fag in one hand, messily munching a bag of walker's salt & vinegar at the same time (multi-tasking slob mode) when a random perky dog-walker speeds by and nods at me "that'll kill you, you know." I was kinda stunned dumb for a few seconds, then yelled after him "the saturated fat or the fag or the UV bloody rays?!" rosco - I'm eager to get stuck in! I mean, I'm hopeful, but trying not to be too hopeful. I watched a pretty sobering video review on youtube last night from a newbie vaper who'd just received a Riva kit and he gave a great overview, said it did exactly what it was meant to, but he said he just didn't enjoy the flavour and couldn't imagine it ever replacing analogues for him. I guess it's not for everybody, so I've got to be prepared and maybe tone down the expectations a bit... but fingers crossed, really hope it's something I can enjoy. romelee - got to thank you for that great guide to the Riva. I've got it printed out and at the ready, going to put it carefully in my hand luggage so I can whip it out in the wee small hours at Premier Inn. And yes, I'm a total mentholhead, really hoping the HS Menthol Sensation lives up to its billing! Andy - if the vaping goes well, I'd really love to get clued up about the mixing business myself in the future. The idea of blending delicious potions in dinky bottles is really calling to my inner cauldron-stirring hag. I do a lot of baking, so I have lots of extracts and essences in the food cupboard, don't know if someday they could come in useful for flavouring vape juices? Your black & white blend sounds gorgeous, by the way. Endless mixing possibilities... I really want to have a go myself! Sad that I'm still smoking the analogues here, not even really enjoying them anymore, to be honest. But hopefully this is my last week of tobacco dependency and I get rid of the damn things for good. Almost looking forward to getting back to northern Ireland, just to get my parcel. If only it wasn't 3 degrees.
