....you should take a look at the crap I'm coughing up today.
Seems like the lungs have decided to start clearing out today and it's not a pretty site.
Apologies for being so graphic, but it can only be described as black gunk.
Really glad it's starting to shift, but it's really making my bum hurt (see my pilonidal sinus thread) with each cough.
I'm looking at what is coming out and I'm actually quite disgusted that I could do that to myself.

Haven't hacked up too much gunk yet, but have had the same godawful aching teeth I got last time I quit fags properly, so it must be working right?

Do like I did when my lungs started clearing out the Tar. Buy some Cats Eyes and lay them along the centre. Then you can have your very own Road!

That's surely a good sign that your lungs are freeing up, and your body is ridding itself of the nasty stuff. It'll pass in a week or so, and then you can start really feeling the benefits. I'm a teacher and on half term and trying to lose some weight. I love walking, and here in Cornwall I'm so spoilt for choice. I've walked 17 miles in the last 4 days, including up some fairly steep gradients, at an average speed of 4mph, and I have been surprised just how easy it has been on my breathing. No wheeze, no cough at the top, and heartrate sits back at rest so much more quickly. Oh, and I've lost 3 pounds (that's over a kilo in new money!) since Friday. Here's to some more decent sunny weather for the next 5 days! Andy ETA: here's a link if you want to see my routes and some pictures Runkeeper

Thank you for the replies all. Yep it is a good sign that they are starting to clear and it's subsided now, so no more butt pain. I love walking Andy and normally do around 5 miles per day with my dog. I love early morning walks at around sunrise time, when the parks and marshes are still empty except for the birds, animals and plants waking up. It's the thing I miss the most at the moment and I'm definitely gaining weight Well done and good luck with your own weight loss...isn't Runkeeper from the same company as Sleep cycle?
