A quick preamble to say I am no expert and have had very limited experience with flavours and different makers due to having been vaping for less than a week.
I am doing this review as when I asked about this sample pack on the forum, little seemed to be known about the Juice or the vendor Mirage Cigarettes Ltd.
The Pack cost £17.98 which included P&P using the 20% off discount code "MC69" and contains 32 x 2.5ml (18mg PG70/30VG) sample bottles of their flavours from the range.
www.miragecigarettes.co.uk/shop/oasis-e-liquid-sample-pack.htmlMy order was dealt with swiftly and received the usual communications informing me of each stage of the order process.
Placed the order on Saturday evening and received the parcel on Wednesday morning via Royal Mail.
The samples arrived well packaged and clearly labelled, so you do not have to take them all out of the box to see what is what.
I emailed Mirage Cigarettes to ask if the samples needed any steeping and they replied promptly with the words "They are good to go".
I will review each juice as I try them and update this post whilst they are fresh in my mind.
All these reviews are my opinion only and you have to remember they are all subjective to personal requirements and taste.
Menthol - Did not know which to try first, so started with the one I thought I'd like the least. I actually quite like it. Tastes more like toothpaste than a menthol cigarette. It is a very smooth hit and produces a lot of vapour. Leaves a similar feeling and taste in your mouth like you get when you've just brushed your teeth. I don't think I could vape it all day, but good for a few blasts to liven up the taste buds.
Old Hollbone - Having already Vaped and loved Grizwald's "Old Holby" I was keen to try this one for comparison. I have to be honest and say I prefer the latter. I only get a slight rolling tobacco taste on the exhale of this liquid and the throat hit I get from the "Old Holby" is missing. On the first few pulls it is kind of coarse, but after a few more it does become quite smooth. The flavour I do get when inhaling is a hint of Calimocho, which is a Spanish drink mixed from Red Wine and Cola (don't knock it until you try it). It's not unpleasant by any means and like the menthol produces a good amount of vapour. I think I'll be sticking to the Grizwald's mix for the fuller more rolling tobacco flavour though.
Cappuccino - Filled a new carto with the Cappuccino as I've been advised to keep separate carto's for menthol and coffee flavours. On removing the cap there was a familiar albeit faint scent of coffee. Allowed the carto to sit for 10 minutes and then got Vaping. WOW! this is the first flavour I have tried from any to date that actually tastes exactly how it is supposed to. No guessing or looking for hints of this or that. It really does taste like a lovely, smooth, creamy & sweet Cappuccino.
Again plenty of vapour produced and the best throat hit of the three I have tried so far. I think I may have just found my new favourite.
Now where's the biscuits?
Essex - Filled my clearomiser with this one this morning in anticipation of what Essex would taste like. In a way I was a tad disappointed to realise it wasn't trying to play up to stereotypes, but is actually a play on the cigarette brand name Kent. Kent Menthols to be precise. The menthol in this liquid is not as full on as the actual Menthol liquid reviewed earlier and is actually much more like a menthol cigarette. The tobacco flavour is subtle, but their is definitely a hint of tobacco there. Again it is not unpleasant even though I am not a fan of menthol cigarettes and I could probably vape this one all day if need be. Unlike with the previous Menthol liquid's strong sweet mint flavour, which I actually preferred. Again produces a good cloud of vapour and a smooth throat hit. Not a bad substitute if you like menthol cigarettes.
Tobacco - After vaping the entire sample bottle of Cappuccino, I thought I needed a Tobacco hit. Just like I used to do whilst drinking a coffee, so decided to fill my last new Carto with the "Tobacco" flavour. There is already a video review on youtube for this flavour and brand which was one of the reasons I decided to take the gamble and buy the sample pack. I have to agree with the video reviewer and say it is a very nice tobacco taste. I wouldn't say it was the equivalent to rolling tobacco and leaning more towards a stronger cigarette flavour. It definitely is tobacco though with just a hint of sweetness. Nice throat hit on inhaling and again as with all the samples so far, plenty of vapour. The taste reminds me of something that I can't quite put my finger on and I could happily vape this all day long. As good a Tobacco flavour as I've tasted to date. Definitely hits the spot for me
Green Tea - First flavour tried out on my new Atomiser. Not a great deal of flavour to this one and I'm not even sure if the flavour that is there is tea, it's more like a really mild tobacco. It does leave my mouth feeling a little dry like a good Tea does when you drink it. I also found it a little harsh and scratchy on the throat.
B & H - Going on the name it's an easy Tobacco flavour to try to compare, because what smoker hasn't tried a B&H at one time or another? It's definitely a cigarette flavour, with a decent throat hit. Not bad at all, but I don't think it lives up to what it is trying to be. Saying that I could quite easily vape it all day. A good one for anyone looking for a cigarette substitute.
Apple - The first fruit flavour I have tried and I didn't think I would be too keen on the fruit flavours before trying them. I was right. It's not an over powering Apple taste that hits you, but you can tell it is an artificial flavour. Kind of reminds me of the cans of Apple Sourz Fusion, but not as intense. A decent smooth throat hit though, but not my cup of tea at all.
Orange - Another flavour that didn't float my boat, but again I never expected it to. It's a subtle orange, with a bit of a chemical after taste. Kind of like those dissolvable vitamin tablets that you get. Good vapour production and a mild throat hit.
Cherry - After the last two reviews you can probably guess where this is going as it's another fruit flavour. I have to be honest and say this is by far the worse flavour I have tried from the samples so far. As with the Apple and Orange it is not an over powering taste, but it is very per-fumy. Not a great vapour produced either, (which surprised me as all the others have been good in that respect) and an unpleasant throat hit.
Hembassy - Another take on a well known brand and again not a bad effort. A cigarette like taste that's not as strong as the B&H flavour, but by no means weak either. No other hints of flavour or sweetness present, it just tastes like smoking a fag. I like the throat hit and again a decent amount of vapour production. I could easily vape this one all day too. It does seem to me that Oasis do tobacco flavours very well indeed.
Lamb&But - Again the name tells you what it is trying to be and again another decent cigarette tobacco taste. Quite mild and I found smoother than the others I have tried. More like a light cigarette taste. Not what I am looking for, but would imagine it would be good for someone who is used to smoking lights.
Strawberry - Well I never thought it would happen, but I have just found a fruit flavour that I like. No let me correct that. A fruit flavour that I love! Dripped a couple of drops of this onto my atmoiser expecting it to be one I'll taste and pass on but had a wonderful surprise. As I inhaled I was greeted by a beautifully smooth and milky strawberry flavour, very much like a well known brand of strawberry milkshake that I love. The flavour is not over powering but subtlety pleasant. It is very sweet though so I do not think I could vape it all day, but I have filled a clearomiser with it and will take a hit when I want to treat myself to something scrumptious. Nice vapor with a very smooth and creamy throat hit. Gorgeous.
Watermelon - Quite a mild melon flavour and not to artificial in taste. Reminds a bit of pear drops. Again not one for me, but for those who like fruit flavours could be worth a try.
Fruit Mix - Last of the fruit flavours to try from the sample pack. This one is like an opal fruit taste which again is not over powering with a smooth throat hit. Quite sweet and creamy like the Strawberry I tried earlier. I could actually vape on this one too, but not all day.
Turkish - I was hoping that this would be a Turkish Delight flavour, but alas it's another tobacco. A rather mild tobacco flavour with a hint of nuttiness. Similar to the Lam&But and quite light. It gives a nice throat hit all the same.
Red Boll - I was wondering what this would be like as I quite like Red Bull. It does have an energy drink taste, but for me it's similar to one of the cheaper energy drinks out there like the one made by a major supermarket chain. Very good vapor production and smooth throat hit. Tastes like the Fruit mix but without the creaminess.
Cola - Not very keen on this one. It is a cola taste but it tastes to me like Cola ice pops. the liquid in cola ice pops when it hasn't been frozen to be precise. Quite artifical but I guess cola isn't a natural flavour anyway.
Again good vapour and nothing wrong with the throat hit. For me it could become sickly quite quickly, but if you like a syrupy cola flavour then go for it.
Ryaun - I have seen mixed reviews regarding various RY flavours and from reading them I had already assumed that this was a bit of a Marmite liquid. Not in taste, but I gathered from the reviews people either love it or hate it. Now I can see why. The only thing I got at first was a taste of cheap cologne and I thought I wasn't going to like it, but after a few more puffs I started to realise the flavour is a lot more complex, possibly the most complex of flavours and especially of tobacco flavours that I have tried to date. On the inhale it's full of spice, but on the exhale a sweetness fills your tastebuds and compliments the tobacco and spicy flavours. A full on throat hit, Oasis Ryuan Liquid has a lot going on and I have been happily vaping it from a cartomiser all night long.
Vanilla - This is the third Vanilla flavoured juice I have tried, and it is the best to date. Again the flavour is subtle and not overpowering and this brand is not as Sweet or sickly as the other two vanilla brands I have sampled. Tons of vapour and a smooth & silky throat hit. Quite nice, although not an all day vape for me.
Chocolate - There is a saying "anything is good if it's made of chocolate". Unfortunately for me this does not apply here. The flavouirng is once again very mild, but maybe this time it is what lets this liquid down. It is definitely chocolate, but you have to go looking for it if you get what I mean. The throat hit is rather harsh too. The only thing going for this one in my opinion is it produces clouds of vapour.
Cigar - Similar to the Ryaun as this is a strong tobacco taste with a hint of spiciness, but without the sweetness. Another harsh throat hit, although you would expect that from a cigar. I've never been a cigar smoker so not one for me.
Dunstan - Another brand-a-like and a good effort. A similar tobacco taste to all the others but with a slight sourness to it. It is also quite raspy on the throat, but that is how I remember Dunhil's to be. It also has a slight dryness about it. I could vape it, but it would not be my personal choice of cigarette flavour from this range.
Virginia - The classic Virginia tobacco flavour that leaves the roof of your mouth tingling with a hard throat hit that I quite like. A hint of sweetness on the exhale. A good alternative for those looking for a rolling tobacco flavour.
Triple 5's - Another good cig-a-like liquid. Not an over powering tobacoo flavour and quite a decent all day vape. Smooth on the throat and not to dry. All so far but the Cherry has produced a decent amount of vapour, so to stop repeating myself I'll just mention that part if a flavour doesn't produce in that respect.
Desert - I think this is supposed to be a Camel. Nice full tobacco flavour with a woody after taste. Leaves your mouth very dry on the exhale, so not an all day vape.
Winst - Strong tobacco flavour that has little sweet and sour to it. Hits the spot nicely on the inhale and doesn't leave your mouth dry like the camel. I'd be happy to fill a carto with this for when I need to sedate a cigarette craving. Reminds me of smoking a lucky strike.
S. Cut - Smooth and light tobacco flavour and pretty much like the name suggests. Nice throat hit without being course or to dry.
Hilton - Medium flavoured tobacco and reminded me of smoking a B&H, but left a metallic like after taste on exhaling.
MB - This waS the last Tobacco flavour from the samples to try and again it's quite a decent cig-a-like flavour. Strong cigarette tobacco taste and a hard throat hit. Leaves the mouth very dry though and the flavour does tend to linger. As with nearly all the brand-a-likes I've tried this would be a decent liquid for those wanting something similar to smoking a stinkie.
Spearmint - Strongest smelling liquid of them all. On removing the cap was I greeted with a scent not to unsimilar to a freshly opened pack of wrigleys. The flavout on baping is not as intense as the smell from the liquid would suggest and I think I'd have like it to have a little more umph in that department. Very smooth on the throat and leaves a lingering light flavour spearmint. Again not bad by any stretch of the imagination, but I would go for a stronger minty taste.
Wine - Left this one untill last to celebrate finsihing the sample pack and the reviews with some plonk. Took a whiff of the liquid when I opened the bottle and it definitely smells of wine. Can't work out if it was red or white though. dipped onto my atomiser and took a deep hit, swished it around in the mouth a bit and inhaled. It does taste like a dry wine, but again can't put my finger on if it's a red or a white. It's like a mix of the the two. Quite fruity, but leaves my mouth and throat to dry to use as an all day vape. Still, worth a try.
SummaryA great sample pack to buy for anyone new to vaping who would like to try a variety of flavours, or anyone in search of a tastes similar to actual stinkies. Unbelievable value for money and I think you will get as much enjoyment from trying the variety of liquids as I have. Many of the brand-a-likes are very similar with just a hint of difference between them, although these are the best cigarette tobacco equivalents I have tried to date.
I have already filled and vaped full carto's with some of the tobacco flavours, and the samples I wasn't to keen on can now be passed onto friends and family and the ones I didn't mind will be used as alternative vapes to my favourites. So nothing will be wasted.
Not in the least disappointed with my purchase and will be ordering the Tobacco and Cappuccino flavours. If I had to score the sample kit as a whole in terms of quality, flavours and value, I would give it 7/10.
