I work a lot of 12 hour night shifts as a lone worker and although I'm not supposed to be watching TV or vids I got into downloading Stargate because I never watched it when on TV. I watched my last one last night thats all of SG1 and all of Atlantis, Stargate Universe is ok but its not the same. I'm now bored stiff because I love my sci-fi. I have downloaded a few Farscape's and Firefly which I havent looked at yet. I even watched the Stargate movies and all of the Startrek spin offs. Anyone got any ideas of what I could watch next

SO is a sci-fi fan and I know he's watched all the stuff you've mentioned so I'm just on the phone to him now. He's saying: It's a desert, there's been nothing decent made in the last 10 years. The Space Odyssey movies are worth watching, "2010" and "2061", known as Space Odyssey 2 and 3.
Vin Diesel made 2 good movies: "The Dark", something like that (I wonder if he meant "Pitch Black") = quite entertaining, and the sequel. Am having a look on IMDB. He's off to work now but will come back to me if there's anything else but he's not hopeful. I know what it's like when something "involving" keeps you company and comes to an end scylla

Thanks Scylla, I've watched the movies you mentioned and its really a series, something I can get into that I want and by sci-fi I really mean about space, aliens etc. I know about Fringe and the ones being shown just now. I doubt if there is anthing I haven't thought of but thought someone might come up with something.

Yes Scylla Pitch Black is a classic followed up by The Chronicles of Riddick, its got everything a sci-fi nut (me too, me too) could want The Chronicles of Riddick is one of my top 10 films. it has super sexy Vin whatshisface, Dame Judy Dench, very dark, very interesting!

Tynesider, working all those hours, surely a little Red Dwarf for light relief wouldn't go amiss

Tynesider, working all those hours, surely a little Red Dwarf for light relief wouldn't go amiss Seen them mate, I've watched them loads of times....and no one please mention Dr Who! biggest load of crap I've ever seen. Looks like I will have to move from sci-fi to something else,I watch loads of series at home with my wife so it has to be something she doesnt like but also something with loads of episodes. Sounds like I'm asking a lot but someone might have a good idea so it's worth asking.

Have we covered Babylon 5? SO reckons it's better than Farscape. I've been trying to get into (not sci-fi) The Walking Dead, and I will say that the zombies are very well done. It's not at all my sort of thing though. It's showing on Five at the mo but has already been shown on FX so you should be able to download it. Our boy ... is in it (will look it up but everything here is "not responding" so will have to reboot first. scylla

"Our boy" = Andrew Lincoln. Am getting negative feedback re sci-fi series, there's nothing worth watching that hasn't already been covered, I'm told scylla

Yep seen all the ones mentioned, just watched two episodes of Firefly and its ok..but..yes theres always a but! There are only 14 episodes. Anyway I think everythings just about covered. I'm nearly 53 so Alzheimer's might kick in then I can watch all the sci-fi again and it will seem like the first time.

Firefly is quite good but only 14 episodes made. Andromeda is better than nowt but as corny as a wheatfield. Farscape started of crap but is getting a bit better. Getting Stargate withdrawal symptoms now
