question about wick/wire

Hi after reading the threads here about recoiling I understand I need silica wick and kanthal wire, I'm hoping to have a go recoiling one of my mini novas
The only thing confusing me is the different thickneses of both wick and wire, I want to aim for standard resistance around 2.6 - 2.8ohms.
I understand the more coils you have on the wire the higher the resistance but is this not dependant on wire thickness?
So could someone point me in the right direction what thickness wire would be best for a mini nova, and what thickness of silica wick.
I've already got a decent multimeter/tools so am ready for a challenge.

1m silica wick, Kanthal 0.20 about 4 coils to 5 if I'm wrong someone will be along to correct me,

I use full size novas but the heads are the same as the mini.

1 strand of 2mm wick is right for me, but others prefer a bigger wick. So if you bought 2mm and 1mm wick you can experiment to find the right thickness for you. Wick if you buy 2 lengths of 1mm they send 1m of 2mm free, see the web page for details, that's where I buy my wick from.

For 2.6 - 2.8 Ohms you will probably need 0.16 kanthal. I use 0.2mm and 5/6 wraps gives me 2.2 Ohm, you might struggle to get more wraps than that so that's why I say 0.16mm

agre with cornersruns i have 2mm silica and 0.2 kanthal 4 raps on my phenoix gives me 1.7 4 on my clearo gives me 2.2 becouse of the longer legs (tails) i could get higer but coils would have to be closer togeather and that takes a little more practice

11.99 for 25mtrs of kanthal ther is an A grade and D grade i got A
and 5mtr of silica
last me a life time
i did think about geting 1mm then just use two strands
