really not sure how I feel about it all.
I am deeply against the death penalty, yet part of me thinks a bullet to the head is just too easy a punishment for him.
Things like this make me question my feelings on alot of related subjects. I could muse for hours, but all I would have is even more questions.

I know what you mean, Blue, but consider that if someone had put a bullet in Hitler's head in the 1930's, it might have spared Europe from a lot of misery.
Bin Laden wanted us out of the Middle East so he could carry out his plan to become leader of the Muslim world. God only knows what path that would have taken us down.

Just found out he was murdered infront of his own children, another innocent woman killed, and binladen himself is unarmed.
I am afraid that for me there is absoloutly no excuse for murdering someone infront of children. No reason for another innocent to die. I'm afraid that just brought "us" down to their level.
The way the USA have handled this makes me very jumpy. I'm afraid all it will do is inflame and enrage any resistance/terrorist group sympathetic to bin-ladens aims into action.
Jerry, the world would be a very different place if someone had run over that man called adolf in 1929. However we have that wonderful thing called hindsight. I'm against killing someone who's crimes are proven, there is no way I could sanction the murder of someone who was still innocent!

Off topic i know , but ive always found it rather perverse how time and history effect our judgement , i mean the "Roman Empire" make the "Third Reich" look like pussy cats , yet they are revered !!!

Absoloutly Mr L... William wallace (aka Braveheart) wasnt exactly a pussy cat with his own version of ethnic cleansing.
History is peppered with dictators, tyrants, terrorists, genocide and murder. Its part of what makes history so interesting, and what makes people so sad when it seems to continually repeat.

I don't think he is dead you have to remember this guy was a member of the CIA at one point and being paid USA dollars, the whole thing is absolute bull crap. Get yourselves on zeitgeist.com and you'll understand the ways of the world more, I discovered it about a year ago and being the open minded person I am have studied it all ever since. Never belive what said in the news

Well it is always like that...
The winner are the heroes and the good guys and the losers are the bad guys
Just as an example if germany had won the ww2 than the countries which we now know as the axis of evil would be the good guys and the rest of the world who is now proclaimed as heroes would be the villains.
Similarly if this dumb Al Qaida had won the war against us by any chance the history would be having all of us as blood thirsty tyrants and this stupid guy as the saviour and a freedom fighter...
So now Bin Laden is the murderer and the people who killed him are the heroes even if they killed an unarmed man or if they killed a million people and bombed an entire country to rubble's and to find one person
Since US is on the winning side nothing we say would ever change it (Unless we see US on the losing side in the future)
Just my thought... Hope I did not offend anyone (Don't like offending anyone on Thursdays and Fridays)

I know that we can't believe everything that the U.S. government or the news media says.
Bin Laden was a murderer. Three thousand civilians, of many nationalities and faiths were killed at his command.
The hijacked planes came from an airport just 50 miles from me, they flew over my house on their way to New York, which is only 200 miles from me. It's personal for me and for many Americans. He's either dead or captured, I don't care which, we got the S.O.B.

I agree Mr L, I want to see the pictures, no matter how gruesome they are.

I agree too, they should show the pictures to prove that it's him. Just how gruesome can they be? We're pretty used to seeing images of people shot so I can't see it's going to be any different, just a huge relief and maybe feeling of revenge for a lot of people.

Maybe it's revenge for some people, Dee, but I see it as justice.

I don't think they should show the photos. There are going to be stupid conspiracy theories whatever America does. I think America has acted with dignity and honour so far. May it please continue.
As for shooting him in front of kids. The raid was at night. One move from Bin Laden could've set off some booby traps. They had to shoot him. Imagine if they hadn't and the commando's were killed. And Bin Laden escaped AGAIN. America would be a laughing stock ( a lot of people would enjoy that )and several good men killed.
If the world doesn't believe then so what ? The fact that he's dead is a good thing.
It's handy for Pakistan that they didn't know anything about the raid. Their people maybe, just maybe, won't be targeted for reprisals.
Heres a conspiracy theory for you. Maybe they took Bin Laden alive. Maybe he wanted out............As far as everyone knows ...he's dead and buried at sea.

Obama has vetoed publishing the photos which IMO is the right decision.
If they were published it wouldn't satisfy those who deny he is dead. It's not difficult to fabricate photos and videos.
More to the point perhaps, we in the west can hardly publish photos of Bin Laden's corpse and then express outrage when fundamentalists publish photos of beheaded soldiers and hostages.
