I see that Bin Laden has finally been tracked down and killed.
I wonder what good he ever thought he'd done.
To think that some people would be proud of his acheivements in life.
All the good he could have done.
Are muslims/arabs any better off for his efforts ?
I think his efforts and money could've been put to much better use. I'm not sure what all the killing has ever acheived for him.
All in the name of religion. Yeah right.

It is truely a momentous day and undoubtedly good news for everyone, regardless of their religious leanings. However, I can't see that it will change much. There are/will be others only too willing to fill those shoes and in the short term, the world situation becomes a little more unsteady and dangerous. Killing one is a start, but we (the decent people of the world of all faiths) must continue this effort and purge more of these evil people regardless of which 'side' they 'fight' for. Good riddance Mr. O - the right thinking world will not miss you at all. Sean

I just can't understand why they say they threw the body in the sea? Doesn't make the slightest bit of sense, surely they'd be wanting to prove medically that they got the right person this time?

I wanted to see his head on a pike in front of the World Trade Center. Now, that I hear that they tossed his body in the ocean has made me suspicious.

They have his DNA and throwing his body in the sea helps to prevent any shrines etc being put up and worshipped. Very clevery worked out, just to add if it wasn't his body the comeback would be severe

I'd imagine there's a stack of photographic evidence as well as the DNA . . . to think he was living 30 miles away from a Pakistani military training camp as well.

Apparently, the Americans got a lot of grief when they published pictures of the bodies of two of Bin Laden's sons a couple of years ago and wanted to avoid a repeat of this.
He was taken aboard a US military ship, washed and placed in a cotton cloth according to Islamic religious rites and prayers were said in Arabic and then his body was placed in a bag and weighted and 'eased' from a board into the sea.

I disagree Dee. It was revolting when the bodies of the American soldiers were dragged through Somalia. I'm glad his body was treated with respect.

Pinhead - i can't see it changing much either. Like you say plenty will want to be the next bin laden.
Interesting to note lately that the changes happening in the Arab world are nothing to do with terrorism. Decent, ordinary Arabs in Egypt, Syria, Bahrain etc are standing up and saying "Enough". More power to them. Iran clamped down on the uprising there. So it would seem that the Arab govt.s/leaders and terrorists are out of step with the good people. How fantastic that are raising their voices. And being heard by the world.
How great it would be to see a free Arabia. Where the people are free to practice their faith, OR NOT, without the oppression. Where thay will maybe have more democracy and equality between genders.

Not convinced they got him to be honest.
Obama is in need of good publicity & I think this is smells of goverment propaganda.
Also, I can imagine Bin Laden having many decoys.

That view is certainly being promulgated in Pakistan Hissie. Their rationale being that Obama wants out of Afghanistan and this 'result' permits him to say job is done.
But...Pakistan would say that, wouldn't they? It's inconceivable that some in their security service weren't aware that he was so close to Islamabad and they're downright pissed that the Americans didn't keep them up to speed.
Grassy Knollers conspiracy theories proliferate LOL.
