They are saying that if the bankers go elsewhere for the high bonus's, London will eventually lose their status as the banking capital of the world. I wonder. Is London really "the banking capital of the world"? And even if it did, would that make one whit of difference to the average Londoner? I doubt it.

Makes you wonder who would want to be 'banking capital of the world'. More like 'we've got the biggest sewer in the world'. The investment arms are nothing more than high roller gamblers. I like a bet and usually lose, but I don't take everyone else down with me. Let them go play somewhere else and we'll see if we miss them.

So the EU want to effectively ban E-Cigs and not so much as a peep from our government or MP's. When they want to cap Bankers Bonuses, the MP's are fighting for TV air time to express their outrage at EU interference. It doesn't really make me laugh, it makes me quite sick actually. I honestly think they are going to get their own way in one form or another, it's best to stock up the nicotine

Case in point, 'Bank Of Dave' Channel 4 10pm tonight.
Dave a normal working class bloke seems to be doing quite well with his bank, considering the banking cartels are doing their best to put him out of action.
Should be worth a watch.

I watched this last year. Is it a new episode or a repeat of the first one? It was very entertaining.

I didn't see it the first time around, but they have been plugging it frequently on C4 so maybe an update.

So he is still going and growing then. I wonder how he manages that with a no bonuses policy?
I mean if we are to believe the cock n bull being spun today by MP's and bankers, then he should have been dead in the water long ago.

Some years back we invested a lot of money with RBS. It was tied up for 3 years in a special Bond and it cost us £600 to arrange it all. We were promised interest on our investment of upward of £2,500.
During this time, RBS Managers were all getting big fat bonus's and so we were looking forward to our pay out.
The muturity date duly arrived and we got our initial investment back minus the set up fee and precisely NIL in interest.
It used to be that I would get dressed up in my best gear to go and see a bank manager. These days I would be more inclined to wear a Balaclava and be carrying a Sawn-off Shotgun. They are nothing but a bunch of thieving rogues.

Well, i remember in the first programme the regular banks just laughed at him and the amount of hoops he had to jump through just to be allowed to set it u was ridiculous. He is a funny character. Self made millionaire. He managed to lend money to several small businesses who had been turned down by the normal banks. Not one of them let him down. As far as i know they all paid him back. Might find out different tonight though.

I think he must still be doing well as I just read he is thinking of expanding to Birmingham.

What they really mean is the public school boys will all p#ss off and they'll have to start promoting us mere commoners into positions of prominence and power. Although the "losing their best people" bit is a myth and scaremonger tactic. If the job exists, then someone will fill it. Hell yeah! Imagine... Another John Prescott!

It used to be that I would get dressed up in my best gear to go and see a bank manager. These days I would be more inclined to wear a Balaclava and be carrying a Sawn-off Shotgun. They are nothing but a bunch of thieving rogues. In my very early years (the 60's) I worked for a bank, the National Provincial, long gone. The Bank Managers I worked for were like a God. They made all the decisions and their integrity was unquestioned. They didn't tolerate any misbehaviour, I know I tried, and they were respected like a religious leader (although that's even being questioned today). I really do despair of the route our way of life is going. I don't know the answer, but I do know if it carries on in the way it's going it will be Sodom and Gomorrah and our 'leaders' are all 'asleep at the wheel'. Where is our next Churchill to bang heads together ???
