Go for it with the Riva. I was really worried about having to fill cartos and clearos, all seemed a bit technical to me. Clearos are SO easy to fill, cartos a bit of a faff but not difficult. Romelee has a really good guide for using a Riva.

No you won't need a syringe for a normal carto. There are two methods, drip in the back and condom method (stop giggling at the back!) You can either ping out the white plastic bung at the the end and then throw it away (use a drip tip instead) and drip liquid into the foam inside letting it soak in before dripping some more. When the top stays wet leave it for a couple of minutes to soak in and then fill a little more if you want. Stick your drip tip in and away you go.
The condom method (giggle) involves pinging out and throwing of white bung again then filling the little plastic condom that comes with the carto to cover the end then gentle pushing the carto down into the juice screw end first until it's all the way in and the liquid is pushed up into the carto. Personally I find this way messier than dripping into the back but a lot of people use the condom method.

You may as well order an extra clearo or two. They are a replaceable part of the riva and should last a couple of weeks or so before they need replacing. The riva comes with 5 cartos so it's a good idea to try a couple of your flavours in those and then put your favourite in the clearo. RY4 is a popular flavour with newbies (newbie myself, only 10 days in) - a tobacco flavour with a sweet/caramel background.

Thanks nbee I tHink I will. Should. Order an extra clearo too? No harm in it, nothing lasts forever and they hold quite a bit of liquid and are easy to fill so quite useful. You may also want more than one for different flavours, generally menthol taints anything you put it in so will always have a hint of menthol.

Thanks for your quick replies. I am not bothered about whether or not it looks like a cigarette. I have seen that the riva1100 is very well thought of. I am about to put in an order to 10motives as down to my last packet of cartomizers but that seems a little silly in light of your advice. So is refilling your own the way to go? Are there 'good' pre filled ones or it that just for the gulliable? Is it much of a faff? How often will I need to do it? <bit lazy> Thanks for the reassurance BtW! Ta hi and lovesa10minutebreak i am a newbie and had loads of help on here, i started vaping about 6 weeks ago with skycigs but i too found them way too expensive, take a look at my thread allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/thread/19122/first-time-vaping-today?scrollTo=356713&page=1This may help you out and i have saved a fortune switching

RY4 is a good 'beginners juice' - a good choice. Not so much as a shock to the system as fruit flavours and puddings and the like . If the Grizwald's Pick 'n' Mix is available again on the VE website, it's a good introduction in sample sizes to different flavours.
