Phoenix, it'l be fine You're putting the batteries into a mod that has it's own protection so will not over discharge them. you've bought a decent charger from a reputable vendor, so the charger won't over charge them. Do not carry loose batteries around in a pocket or bag near any metal to prevent shorts. You can get very cheap plastic battery boxes if you want to carry spares with you

I'll tell you what you definitely mustn't do-put one in the pocket of your North Face jacket where you forgotten you had put a metal chain......

I think it is just a warning they use to cover their backs. Just insert the batteries into the charger making sure they go in the right way, the charger will do the rest. I only offer the above as general advice and I take no responsibility should any faults occur with the charger, batteries or your central heating system yada yada yada

Don't worry mate If you've got a good charger it will look after your batteries for you. Your device will tell you when your battery is discharged so you know when to charge it. As for shorting, put unused batteries in a case and not loose in a pocket. It's quite hard to short a battery unless you have a chain in your pocket, Thanks for sharing yorkcitytom

Not just a chain in your pocket. Forgetting you have a 18350 battery in your pocket and throwing your loose change in the same pocket is a bad idea too. If you need to carry a spare and you don't have one of them battery cases, you can get a bit of paper (junk mail is good for this) roll your battery in it, and then fold it over on the ends so the paper wont unravel and the battery terminals are protected.
