Hi Guys
I actually gave up smoking cold turkey back in October 2012, but have battled with cravings, and although I never gave in, it has been driving me mad.
I thought a good alternative would be E-Cigs.
I bought a 10Motives disposable to try, and enjoyed it. It is great being able to use it around the house undetected (Keeping it quiet just now)
I decided to venture into the rechargeable market and bought a cheap starter kit.
I have been using UltraVape for a few weeks now, and am enjoying them. Throat hit is ok(could be better though), flavour is ok(just normal tobacco flavour). Only having 1 battery is a bit of a pain, but so far I am only needing to charge it couple of days.
While changing the refills is easy, ideally I would look for something which is a little more economic.
I am looking for a kit, that hopefully doesn't cost that much(is under £30 possible?), that ideally could do the following:
1. Doesn't look strange. (Maybe its because I am new, or maybe it is psychological, but It seems unusual to not have it look slightly cigarette shaped) 2. Decent battery Length(few days worth) 3. Cheap to run (I don't mind refillable, as long as I can fill enough to get me through a weekend) 4. Not have anything that conspicuous ( with Ultavape all I have is the e cig (in pocket), the USB charger (in a box in a drawer), and spare carts (Hidden away) ), so I don't want any big boxes, certainly nothing cigarette box like. 5. Because it is in my pocket, something that will not leak (I like the little rubber stopper on the end of the carts, that you have to take off) 6. Something that is low maintenance. I have seen mention of home made wicks etc. I want something that is easy, and quick to remedy/change.
I understand that all of the above might be a tall ask, so I might not have an alternative to stay as I am. If that is the case, is there a cheaper alternative than £8.99 for 5 carts?
They say they are equivalent to 40 cigs, but that is not true. I am probably using it more than I used to smoke, but I suppose that is because I have more access to it than I did normal cigs (no smell detected).
But I used to smoke about 7 a day, and these carts are lasting 3 days max. And although I haven't counted, I would say I am lucky if I am getting 200 puffs (they claim 300)
Any advice gratefully received.
And Thanks in advance Phildo

Hi phildo I'd say if you really want to get the best out of vaping in the long term, you're going to have to get over the 'weird look' thing and come out of the vaping closet You've already got some good ideas with Romelee's suggestions there. It's surprising how quickly you get over the whole cigalike thing - I think it took me a week on the Elites to buy one of these and love it The cig equivalent thing is such BS, as you've found; most folks tend to measure it in ml, with 3-4ml/day being roughly the average. Hope you find something to suit

Hello & Phildo! As Jen says, come out of the closet & go for the next step up from cigalikes, it's much more satisfying. Good luck with whatever you choose though. BTW, Jen, your link takes me to Switzerland. Hydraulics mentioned, amongst other things.

Hi Phil
As already said Romelee as given you some great options there.
You will not be disappointed with the Riva kit. You can read testimonies to that right here in the newbie forum from older posts.
Not seen one person complain about it's functionality yet.
Once you have that, you can pick up unfilled very good quality Cartomisers (5 Pack) for around a fiver and fill them with whatever juice you wish and in the long run will work out cheaper than buying the pre-filleds as you can reuse them.
Since you've been smoke free for several months you could even try a nicotine free juice as I'd expect it's the act of smoking that you're missing, if not even try a low nicotine juice to help quell the cravings.
The people here really know their stuff and most have been where you are right now.
Good luck with whatever you choose.

Hi phil. Welcome to the forum.
Nothing i can add here really romelee has it covered with the kits he has linked. That is the best route to go if you want better.
A +1 for the riva kit from me too.

Guys
Thanks for the quick responses!
Looking through the information that has been given and looking at both kits, it seems to be between the VE Riva 1000 Deluxe kit and the Innokin Itaste. Both around the same price (£34.95 & £37 respectively)
Neither are in stock just now, and will take about a week to come back in, and I have enough carts to do me till then, so I have time to think about it.
I have a few questions:
The Riva seems to be standing out as a clear winner as it has two batteries (1100 mAh against 800mAh. I presume the 1100 will last longer? and there is 2!)
The Riva seems to come with a clearomiser and cartomisers. So I would have a choice which I use? I could pre-fill the 5 cartomisers, which would see me through a good few days? Or is there an advantage to the clearomiser?
How many refills would a clearomiser or cartomiser need before needing replaced? (I know its not an exact science)
The Innokin has a variable voltage. I see the obvious benefits, but is that a major boost? The downside being only one battery. It also seems to have a spare clearomiser, so I could have one pre-filled?
I assume both can use any e-liquid? I see in the classified's there can be special offers on cheaper liquids.
I think that is all my questions.
Thanks so much for your help guys. very much appreciated! Phildo

I've not used the Riva so can't comment on that. The big benefit of VV is that you can adjust it to suit you. Combine that with different ohm clearos and VG or PG juices and you can go from softly-softly, silky, is-it-on 100% VG to knock your socks off, bad-ass, oh-my-god-it-burns steam train 100% PG depending on your personal preference. You can indeed use any liquid, and clearos don't come pre-filled as far as I know. Just pop a couple of likely looking 10ml juices in your basket when you order
