Sadly Chrissie, I am not allowed to mod the kettle! I have spent ages de-scaling it with white vinegar, in the hopes that it will develop a leak, but no, it just keeps on making enough noise to drown out the radio, even with the door shut ??? In our household, you do not replace until it is definately dead, beyond all repair. Case in point... I have a Matsui microwave oven that I bought in 1989 for my first pad. Hugely exciting to have my first pad The thing was white when I bought it, now it is yellow, it is also the size of a small fridge, and takes up far too much room in a small kitchen. BUT IT STILL WORKS It has suffered at my hands for all these years, I used to dry my knickers in it, in the winter! ( I used to work in Newmarket and I did everything in a hurry, because you had to go to race meetings and PARTIES ) By the way, don't try this at home because it does your elastic in

Kat, when I was growing up, I thought we were only entitled to have one appliance/radio/record player, etc. in our lifetime. When something would break, my dad would say "well, I guess that's the end of that".
When I went to work, I put an end to that. Our old radio died and my dad spoke the same line and I went out and bought another and better one. I then got his lecture about how I was wasting money and how he grew up in the depression, etc. I wouldn't budge, the radio stayed and has since been joined by other marvels of the late 20th century. lol.

Yes Jerry that was it, you didn't replace, you fixed! I remember my first motorcycling exploits... A honda 50cc moped, I thrashed the living daylights out of it and blew the engine up. An enterprising friend put a 90cc unrestricted engine in it for me and all of a sudden I could do 50mph with a following wind, and I thought I was IT I used to do wheelies Unfortunately I tried to give it the big un on a pub car park in front of my friends and hadn't reckoned on the gravel surface I dumped it, and me on the ground, and they fell about laughing :-[ It managed to put up with me until I was safe to let loose with something more growlier

May I borrow the angle grinder when you can spare it please Kat? I need to shave a couple of mm of one of the carts for the Clearo I've had to put the dog flap gate on to stop Bruno the fearless from going outside barking abuse at the junkies in the park, the squirrels and blossom falling off trees. So long since I used it I couldn't figure out how it worked so I got pliers and yanked it off the door every morning for a week. It occurred to me that it wasn't gonna put up with that for long so I had a better look at it and found this flipping great tab at the bottom that says PUSH It's not as satisfying as using brute force though.

If the battery was large enough, Ian would buy it Kat. No More Nails is a particular DIY favourite of mine . . . on a par with duct tape I believe and perhaps an alternative you could give consideration to in your mooding?

When I moved here I couldn't drill a hole in the kitchen wall to hang a rack thingwee so I superglued it and it did the job.
Throughout the rest of the house the wallpaper held the plaster up.

Hi Clutter, sorry NO you can't borrow it! I NEED IT!!!!!!!!!!!
And yes brute force is far more satisfying! My super little white van's ignition sticks in hot weather and won't turn. I spray WD40 in it and wait patiently until it lets me turn the key. DO I HECK! I sit there thumping the steering wheel and calling it names until it capitulates.
Perpy! no more nails! What would I do with the lump hammer????

I have terrible trouble putting a replacement slasher string in a strimmer. After struggling for minutes I decided to have a temper tantrum and in a futile attempt to vent, I bashed the strimmer over the brick raised borders, again and again and again and the bloody brick wall broke I couldn't flippin' believe it.

Just think of it at a great opportunity to learn brick laying skills Clutter Mixing cement is great! No surprise here but I have trouble with threading strimmer cord too. SO I CHEAT! I found some plastic tie wraps and threaded three into the holes on the strimmer, works a treat, no cord needed

I think we'd be a 3 woman demolition squad myself! My lump hammer has also seen a fair bit of action . . . every since my claw one went to Hammer Heaven after a nasty altercation with a shed.

Absolutely, why use a claw hammer? you can never get the blerdy bent nail out anyway ??? The lump hammer is excellent and never misses After my black fingernail episode, I always hold the nail with pliers, to get it started though, it saves on expletives
