....OK, get up! But, in light of the pathetic e-cig piece that was on The One Show earlier. Yes, the cigalikes have red or blue light on the bottom, but with just a quick look, you see a cigarette, then 'smoke'. With small e-cigs becoming readily available, do you think it would be much better if they did away with the white bat with brown atomizer lookalike? Making them either bright colours or black, there would be no mistaking what it is then. Those that have moved on from them, well, it doesn't matter, as mods, clearos, spinners etc are so different anyway. Anyway, just a thought...

That was certainly the thinking behind the introduction of the black-bodied cigalikes with blue or green lights Jess - so they could be used in clubs without people mistaking them for fags

Cheers, Oneday, just a shame they haven't taken the white ones off the market then. LOL They're how some folk get onto the vaping trail, Newy, so don't be a meanie!

The thing is it's what actually attracts many over in the first place. So it could also be counter productive. How many first posters do you see saying "I Don't want one of them odd looking ones"...it's only once you lot educate them like you did me that they realise the error of their ways lol

Or a manufacturer could come out with little slip covers in different colours and patterns so when a individual wanted to go from a white fag type looking ecig they could pimp it up with a funky slide over cover tube type thing if they weren't ready to get into mods. Just a thought and I'm tired so ner lol.

Good luck mistaking my current go-to setup (eVic and AGA-T) for a real cigarette When I first tried vaping, it was the cigalikes that drew me in. They were pretty crap back then, mind you - not sure they're much better now, but they must have improved a bit? Wouldn't be scuttered with all that constant charging and refilling now though

There are two completely different types of vapers.
There us us yins here who are right into vaping and all things e-cig wise and then, there is the other sort that use cig-a-likes when they cannot smoke where they want to smoke.
Yes, most of us started with cig-a-likes, but we wanted more and so sought out better ones and our hobby grew from there.
The cig-a-like brigade will go back to their ordinary fags when they get back into areas where they can smoke.
Two different types of e-cigs aimed at two different markets. And each one has the right to choose how and when he wishes to use theirs.

I was speaking with a smoking friend at the weekend and she wanted one that looked like a cigarette ... I asked her why and she could not answer. I suppose it is a psychological thing initially and also the fear that people will look daft with bigger devices. I think there is also a gimmick factor with them.
Cig-a-likes work because the transition is easier for a smoker, not just in looks but in practicality. They have the same footprint as a pack of stinkies and they are commodity devices not hobby devices. This is exactly why there is a market and that market shares a lot of similarities with the tobacco industry.
I seem to recall myself being the same when I first started but now I can't understand why. I don't smoke, I don't want to look like I am smoking. A line is crossed once you realise that vaping works.

I don't think we should be in the business of banning anything, but rather we should be encouraging choice. It's what this is all about, to me anyway. When choosing my cigalike, I purposely went for one that was black so as to avoid any potential confusion. The plain fact is, once vaping (cigaliking included) becomes more well known, old fogies like in that 1 Show piece and everyone else won't bat an eyelid. It's just because it's still relatively new to the majority of the population that these problems even occur. That's what struck me after watching that piece, anyway. Education not prohibition

Thanks for all your replies.
There's no way I would want them banned, they serve a purpose & good, but it is just the colouring of the cigalikes that I mean. I just think it would be more acceptable, make life easier if they were obviously not a cigarette.

I agree jess. I started off on them and I do think it would be better to distinguish them from a real one.

The cig-a -likes are better at getting peoples curiosity of how vaping works.
The beeb came across as nicotine was a bad thing but it could of been a lot worse.
They are following the script, drip feeding that EU proposal.
We are all in this together, I dont see myself any different that anyone else that uses nicotine be it leaf, e cig look a like, or any other vaping method.
