I'm glad you said that River . . . so much of today's music is instantly forgettable, compared to the musical talent around when I was growing up . . . Motown hasn't been mentioned yet, but I loved so many of the songs & artists.

Yeah ....bang on there Perps. Marvin Gaye singing "heard it through the grapevine". Sends shivers down my spine to this day. No=one will ever do a better version of that. He nailed it first go. A song from the 80's that always sticks in my mind is cutting crew "dieing in your arms tonight". Classic 80's soft rock ballad type song.

Del, aside from the Lion Sleeps Tonight, by the Tokens, I really don't have any particular favorites. I just like the four part harmony sound that came from the turn of the 20th century barbershop quartets.

Yeah i'm keen on the sound of vocal harmonies too.
The bee gees were pretty good at it. Simon and garfunkel. The everly Brothers. Going further back i think the Inkspots were up there.

The Inkspots are going way back to the early 50's, I think.
BTW, Perpy mentioned Motown music, I like that too. Motown is slang for motor town, since Motown music came from Detroit, Michigan and Detroit is the major motor vehicle producing city in the U.S.
