Dont do it.
After mixing my first flavours a few weeks ago and tasting how strong they was only to start fading away I started to do my following mixes with more concentrate. I was expecting a stable strength flavoured juice but got the opposite, flavours that died on me, tasting of very mild soapy water. I have mixed at 25% 30% and 35%.
Reading about, I heard about vapers tongue and what people do to try and cure it, one guy said eat salt and vinegar crisps, I give it a go and I could taste the juice not as strong as it should of been and it soon died off after a minute or so. Not having any more crisps I gargled some malt vinegar again the vapes taste returned for a few minutes then died off. I then remembered reading one of maccafans posts where he was saying vapour is very alkaline, the penny dropped as I realized the vinegars acid had been neutralizing any alkaline build up on my taste buds.
I have done some more mixes at 20% and the flavour is there not intense as I was striving for when I first start mixing but not weak either. Im now starting to look at adding concentrate the same like butting sugar in my tea, If it tastes ok dont up the sugar to make it sweeter you get used to it in no time and end up having to put more in. This only leads in the juice case to an over alkaline mouth leaving you wondering where the hell as the flavour disappeared to. Im now going to experiment with lower %ages and find out just how much flavour gets lost to mixing over strong juice.

Oxo - I'm a noob as far as mixing is concerned, but I only mix to a 20% level - I wonder if by adding up to 35% (!) you are over-flavouring and therefore losing the subtlety? It might be worth trying lower percentages, as you mention, and seeing if there is bizarrely more flavour to be had from a lower strength mix. And it'll work out cheaper too! Andy

I'm like a broken record I know . . . but leaving your mixes to steep and not being tempted to add extra flavouring after an hour, is another way to avoid over flavouring!

+1 for steeping!
Also, any ideas for an acidic additive for juices besides vinegar?
PS: anyone got any PH paper handy?

I find that what I have eaten or drank before I vape, can have a direct bearing on the flavour of that vape.
Now during the day I am not too bothered about flavour as generally it is purely the nicotine I am after, but come the evening when I am relaxing, flavour is paramount.
It is then that I switch from my normal beverages to Sparkling Water. This gives me the a refreshing drink without contaminating the flavours of my e-juices.

The chemists round our way are useless they dont stock litmus paper, if you ask for Bromothymol Blue eye brows start to raise the 12N Sulfuric Acid request is jaw dropping even though its diluted to less than 1%. I would really like some kit that let me test the PH most suitable for my mixing needs, from there I could start looking at experimenting using vinegar. For people coming into mixing. Its instinct to add more flavour and even start at high % of concentrate . It all takes time and corner cutting is too tempting Ive had a couple of weeks vaping juices that die, now Ive learned the basics, Its good of you to keep chanting the mantra as there is going to be a constant stream of mix and vape same day people visiting the board.

It is and it isnt. Im only mixing for myself, Any experimenting fluids are only mixed in 2 to 5ml samples, I can afford to dump that kind of quantity as Im only on a relatively low nic mg. Ive a feeling the pool testing kits might need bigger samples. Its something Ill look into when Im out and about, Thanks for the heads up. the test strips are good.

Don't F'art do some random additives like this Nick? Haven't looked specifically, but I seem to recall having seen something like on Liberty Flights maybe or Ecigexpress. Yes - they do MTS Vape Wizard and Bitter Wizard which (as far as I know) are used as flavour enhancers/modifiers, not acidity regulators. Although maybe that's part of the secret? A first search for a product that might do this turned up the following: www.jones-hamilton.com/products_phase_food.html. Anyone fancy trying to vape sodium acid sulfate? On the face of it, it sounds like an awful idea but how do we know what is safe to vape or not? Afterthought: Malic acid? Not exactly taste-neutral but I'm sure I've seen mention of it being used in ejuice.

Not exactly taste-neutral but I'm sure I've seen mention of it being used in ejuice. Acid reacts with water to make electric and tastes bitter. Alkaline tastes bitter with a soapy feel. One cancels out the other. Our sense of taste is only electric signals to the brain and we have only sweet sour salt and bitter that our tongues detect all the flavours are just a combo of these sent at different electrical frequents. Apple vinegar is alkaline and regular vinegar is acidic, both are of the shelf at the local shop. Im just looking for the Ph that dont interfere with electrical production without making things too bitter. Im not knocking any incoming info Ill be looking what malic acid is and if its the main component or associated with a vinegar.
