The parts for my next mod have arrived: Designed to be the mod I throw in my pocket for short outings: - Single-piece SS body (3D printed, bronze-infused)
- 22mm x 33mm x 91.5mm
- Magnetically fastened sliding battery compartment lid
- Tool-free assembly
I'm heading off on holiday tomorrow so pretty happy right now - I'm only a little sad that it'll be another 10 days before I can do any soldering or fitting!

Leave it like that! Looks stunning! It certainly does, just what wood were you planning to use, will it be darker? Yup - it's going to be walnut so a far bit darker once it's all oiled up. They aren't difficult to swap around so I expect I'll keep both sets, regardless. I was planning to focus efforts and funds on making a more pocket friendly mod next time but it seems I may have to play around with different woods and metals before I get that far. I still have the plain, matte/polished bronze, matte black, matte/polished gold and polished nickel finishes to try out. If it was cheaper I'd have one of each!

Found some bamboo scraps - couldn't resist making some temporary side panels:

I'm pretty sure there are LED matrix clock kits around too if you're after a closer match. But your one is nicer than a LED matrix It's all in those tubes - I've got a real soft spot for them now. In my mind I'm trying to justify making another one as an alarm clock...

Right, I only seem to post here nowadays when I have made a new toy and want to show off. I'm far more of the lurker type but I'm getting more and more excited about this mod making and need to get it off my chest! After solid wood and bamboo I've tried to make my life a bit easier by using more 3D printing, results below: The pink version was made as a yet-to-be-delivered gift. It's all plastic and has kind of served as a prototyping exercise for the less forgiving (and more expensive) bronze infused stainless steel version. This one has a slightly textured gunmetal finish to it and I'm just waiting on some wood to arrive next week to make the side panels. Both have light and clicky mechanical keyboard switches for the fire buttons. Hoping to get some nice SS actuators made next time round. Just for fun, inspired by a previous bamboo build and a newfound confidence wielding a soldering iron, I've also had a go at a Nixie clock: I'd recommend it if you're the mod-making type - very satisfying! Kit purchased from here: www.pvelectronics.co.ukPost done - back to being a lurker for a while!

I have a stainless steel 18650 Praxis mod, praxispotions.com/store/hardware/prax1s-mod/, that I've hardly used looking for a new home. $99 new from the US, yours for £50 delivered. Photos available on request. Check out the reviews though - the switch isn't for everyone (myself included).

That looks lovely. So much want... You're welcome to the parts list and a talk through if you fancy a challenge! In fact, I have 2 surplus sets of all the un-assembled bamboo parts if anybody else does. (Free to a good home.)

More bits and pieces have been drifting in via my letterbox over the past few weeks and I've finally had a chance to glue together most of my box. After much finger numbing needle-filing it just about all fits in place: And the front: Looking forward to the next weekend my other half is away!

That is an awesome idea. The closest one to me is in York but they don't appear to have a laser cutter to hand. That said, I'm sure it won't take me long to find a different excuse to go along.

I built a guitar neck once with laminated Brazilian rosewood & ash. A rosewood finger board on top, but the look of the alternate wood colours was lovely to look at. Keep the template Nick I would like this post to be considered as the official addition of a laser cutter to my Christmas wishlist.
