VG & PG fromBoots?

I went into a large Boots store today and couldnt see any PG or VG and when I asked they said it would have to be ordered in especially and they had never heard of VG. The assistant even went through the medicine book they have and said he couldnt see it, he said they would not be sold off the shelf though. I'm sure I ve read that people have just went in the shop and bought it.

I did manage to buy PG from my local boots, it's normally with the cough medicine as you can take glycerine on its own. I've found none of the health shops do VG.

I have found a couple of VG sellers on eBay though.

Oh weird mate ive also read it is availble from the shelf.

Vegetable glycerine is normally available from health stores.. The one I get is Glycerin BP or Value Health Glycerin BP from the chemists and is normally a lot cheaper.

I bought VG (Glycerin Active Ingredient 100% Glycerol) from local chemist Tyne.£1.49 for 100ml.

Will check baking section of supermarkets and sore throat section of Boots for PG ( Mono Propylene Glycol) in the hope of smaller quantities than Perpy's eBay seller soon.

I just buy glycerine from the baking isle of any supermarket.Ive struggled to get PG off the shelf but you can get it ordered in to a pharmacy.

Now that is a very good price.I shall get some of that to try next time.Its rare i use it but do enjoy a 50/50 mix once in a blue moon so its good to have.

That's the same as the one I bought from boots the other day Lee. It's the VG that I can't seem to get anywhere.

The Boots one is VG as far as I'm aware.

Lee & Clutter are right Dee, it's VG that you can buy at any chemists.

Oh goodness now I'm really confused. So is the cake mix stuff VG too? That could be why it's making me have a really bad cough! LOL

Yes the cake stuff (usually used in royal icing) is VG, not PG.

I've certainly not been able to obtain PG 'off the peg' anywhere . . . but Liberty Flights do sell smaller quantities than the Ebay seller for anyone wanting a dabble.
