Hi to everyone :-)
I ditched the stinky cigs on Sunday 10 March and my little JacVapours and rubbish Skycigs have got me through it. I'm amazed at how easy it has been. I originally bought the Skycig ages ago, with 12mg carts, and just couldn't cope without the cigs, hated the way some of the carts leaked in the boxes and the battery life was terrible on both the Skycigs and the charging case. Then my sister offered to sell me her JacVapour kit for cheap, as she says they're too big for her. I got some 18mg carts and I'm astounded at how well I'm doing. I do still get a few cravings but they're much easier to manage.
I just wanted to ask some equipment advice, as everyone here seems so friendly and helpful :-) Not just for me, but for my sister as well.
I've decided that although I like the JVs, I now want the best vaping experience I can get, and I don't care if it doesn't look remotely like a real cig. A guy at work has a huge thing called a Tornado and I think that would be a bit too big for me, so something a little bit smaller would be ideal. But there are so many different options that I'm thoroughly confused. I'm looking for a good throat hit (I know that's also down to the juice, but I've heard some types of device can give a better hit than others?). Are manual batteries better than auto? If so, I'm sure I could get used to a manual one. I don't mind having to change battery during the day, and I usually have access to a power socket and USB socket for charging, so battery life doesn't have to be a day or more. Are tanks better than cartomisers? I've heard that some tanks can leak - is that true? It's important that whatever I get can take JacVapour liquid as I have some bottles of both PG and VG. And I would prefer something that comes as a starter kit, but that's not essential. I don't mind buying the bits and pieces separately, but preferably from the same site. (And preferably a site with an active discount code...) Is variable voltage really worth having? I just have no clue where to start, and the more research I do, the more confused I get!
Once I buy myself something else, I'm going to give my sister my Skycigs and the last of the cartridges to get her started, but she's really going to need something else - she'd have to buy extra batteries for the Skycig and another charging case, so she may as well spend the money buying a better kit instead (preferably one where the carts don't leak and the batteries don't take half a day to charge). She wants (surprise surprise) a cig-a-like, but not as big as the JacVapour. Can anyone recommend a starter kit, with e-cigs about the same size as the Skycig ones, but that uses refillable carts?

Hi & welcome
I started with a jac 6 months ago. I still use my jac but also like the mini ego & SD key ring for their small size. I use kanger carts and get all my stock from vape escape. I use bigger ego batteries at home but like the smaller ones for out & about.
The people on here are so knowledgable , I'm sure you'll be sorted in no time.

As regards to this "She wants (surprise surprise) a cig-a-like, but not as big as the JacVapour. Can anyone recommend a starter kit, with e-cigs about the same size as the Skycig ones, but that uses refillable carts?" Maybe this: www.vapeescape.co.uk/ritchy-era-510-starter-kit~429

Hi Penny Some good advice from Romelee. I would always recommend that you do as he suggests... otherwise the scary person might come and get you...

Wow, thanks for such quick responses!
Romelee, thanks especially for taking the time to post all those links. The Riva 1100 is one I remember seeing good reviews of. I'm now dithering between stainless steel and black. (Should I get another clearomiser with it - it does say they may only last a week...?)
I've just sent that link for the cig-a-likes to my sis, along with a reminder that I once thought the same as her and am ending up buying a bigger one :-D
It says they can do next day delivery, which is awesome, as I have no patience.
And has anyone tried the Grizwald's Samplers? Some of the flavours look amazing - JV only do basic coffee, chocolate, apple and the like. Very tempted to try a few!

I did a quick search for the Riva 1100 and everyone seems to love theirs - order placed! I had to try a couple of the Grizwald samples as well. And requested next day delivery so fingers crossed it'll be here tomorrow. Can't wait! Part of me thinks it seems expensive... but the Superking Menthol I used to buy are around £7.50 a packet. So I'd have spent more than that in a week, as a smoker.
I've also emailed details to my sister - she's skint until payday next week so I'm hoping I can get her to try the Riva 1100 before then. I'm sure the cig-a-likes Romelee kindly linked above are good quality, but I really do think she'd end up wanting a bigger one. I know I used to be convinced that I only wanted one that looked like a "real" cig but most people seem to start out thinking that, only to change their minds.
Thanks for that link, sleepyduck! So many flavours that my head is spinning!

Hi Penny - a good choice of things to consider! So far as throathit is concerned, if you want to increase it there are three things you can do: 1. Use higher nic juice (e.g. 24 mg)and predominately PG based rather than VG based. 2. Increase the voltage you are vaping at. The things you have used so far and the Riva start at about 4.2 volts and gradually reduce to about 3.5 volts as the charge in the battery goes down. Things like the Spinner allow you to set the voltage at 4.2 (for instance) or higher and will hold that voltage throughout their charge. 3. Reduce the resistance of the things you stick on top (clearomisers, cartomisers etc.) Standard resistance things are usually 2.5 - 3.0 ohms. If you drop to 1.8 - 2.0 ohms you would notice quite a difference!
