Great reviews, I've been vaping less than 2 weeks and am sometimes overwhelmed at the amount of choice. So reviews like yours are very helpful. Thanks!

It worked!! I let a fresh one sit in a condom of Caramel Cappucino. Let it soak while I nipped to the shops. Discovered it's much harder to drive and use a Riva than the little JacVapours. Sat at the stupid temporary traffic lights frantically twiddling the Riva in one hand desperately trying to find the button that I knew had to be there while the light turned green... At least the PCC for the JVs is small and they're refillable.
Got home, gave the carto a blow, cleaned off the battery end and success!! No idea if I prefer cartos or the clearo, but don't suppose it matters if I keep using both.
Huge thanks for all your help :-)
Grizwald's Caramel Cappucino is amazing! If we hadn't wound up with a bill of £200 for new front wheel bearings for my other half's car, I'd probably be back on Vape Escape ordering a lot more flavours. That'll have to wait until the end of next week. I want to try some 0% nic for late evening vaping as well, as the nic stuff leaves me far too awake.

If you're getting the 'sizzly' sound then it does sound like a connection is being made! Perhaps it isn't filled enough? give the condom method a try, i always do that for the first fill then just keep them topped up with drips in the top Thanks Karma! Going to try the condom method in a couple of minutes. Fingers crossed!

It might be the Skycig plug - I only used it because when I was looking up the Riva yesterday, someone had mentioned using the Skycig mains plug to charge it. My Kindle, phone and tablet plugs all have USB sockets, so I'll have to check and see if they're OK to use.

Sounds like a dud if you have done everything correctly, im afraid you do get duds now and again. Give it another go and see. Forgot to add, did i mention Grizwalds Banoffee Cream...oooops, looks like i just did EDIT: forgot about the centre pin as Karma said above. Are you psychic? Banoffee Cream is already on my shopping list for payday :DGreat minds, and all that.

I'd heard that over-tightening was very bad, so I tried to be careful not to do it. Most annoyingly every time I push the button, I can hear that slight sizzly crackly noise that the JVs make when you vape them. So it sounds like the connection between the battery and the carto is fine. I'm using the other battery now, just put the carto in (careful not to tighten too much) and pushed the button, held it in for a couple of seconds and some vapour starting coming out the end of the carto. Went to take a light puff and got something, but there's so much less vapour and throat hit than with the little JVs, and nowhere near as much as I'm getting with the clearo. This is so odd - maybe I just have a crap technique with the Riva + cartos!
I'm going to try another carto with the JV liquid this time.

Hi Fred! I'm too new to be able to give sensible advice, but I just got my black Riva kit today. I have a clearo full of peppermint + chocolate flavours and it's awesome :-) Hope you enjoy the Riva as much as I am.

Great news Penny! check the carto again before using it, it hould look a bit like a slush puppy on top, wetter than a wet thing, lol! Then hold a tissue over the threaded end and blow through to clear any excess out of the middle tube! Yeah, I made sure it was soaking. Did exactly what you said about blowing through to clear it. But it just doesn't work? Weird, I just edited this and it vanished! Just wanted to add a quick note about my sister - she asked me for advice on e-cigs, but after I'd been happily puffing on the Riva with the clearo. I sent her a long email, talking about how I used to think a cig-a-like would be best for me, and exactly why I'd changed my mind. Asked her if it was more important to have something that looked like a cig, but then be struggling a little with the vaping experience, still having cravings etc. Or have something that looks nothing like a cig but works so much better. Told her I'd found lots of threads where people had moved from cig-a-likes to devices like the Riva and been much happier. She's now considering spending a chunk of next month's cig budget on two Riva kits for herself and her boyfriend. She just wants to try mine first.

Hi Penny and welcome, you wont damage the battery by using it half charged, enjoy your peanut butter, gotta try that one Thanks, Robby. I used it. I had the other one on charge, with the cable attached to the Skycig charging plug and it seemed to be taking forever. The light wouldn't turn green. Finally unplugged it and connected it to my PC and got a green light. I guess it only turns green if it's attached to the PC, or something. I'll stick to PC charging in future :-D

Well... first I tried a carto and either I messed up or it's a dud. I filled it with the peanut butter (drip filled), but I can barely get a vape from it. I tried tightening it on a little bit, then loosening it. Took it off and put it back on a few times. Tried drawing lighter than I would with the JV e-cigs. Still nothing. Tried a little heavier - nothing. I think out of all the repeated attempts, I managed to get a little bit of vapour and throat hit twice, and that was all. Very frustrating cos the little taste I got of Grizwald's PB was amazing!
I kept checking the wadding inside - it was definitely wet. So either this carto is dud, which would be very disappointing as that means I've also wasted a fair bit of the PB, or I've done something really stupidly wrong. I made sure I only got juice on the wadding, there was none in the middle. I blew air through it, made sure the end that connected to the battery was dry etc. Basically followed the instructions in the text and video from the thread in Tips & Tricks.
At that point I was afraid to try another carto in case it's my fault, so I tried the clearomizer. Put in a mixture of peppermint and chocolate JacVapour liquids, and...
MIND = BLOWN!!!!!
This makes such a mockery of the pathetic Skycigs. It is amazing!!! Seriously, a couple of puffs, my cravings vanished. So huge huge thanks for advising me to get it because I absolutely love it. I've occasionally been relying on lozenges when the cravings got bad, but the Riva with the clearo totally killed them. I kept nipping the bathroom for a sneaky puff. I seriously can't wait for payday next week because I need more Grizwald's gourmet samples in my life.
But... I really want the cartos to work. I gather the clearo won't last very long, and I don't know... I really want to give the carts a try.
Is it likely I've got a dud one? Is that common? Should I chance another one? I looked at the tips and the vid again and I don't think I missed anything.
As great as the clearo is, I'd be worried about liquid spilling out if it happened to tip up, or something. And I know you can get "rebuildable" ones (presumably you can replace the parts yourself) but using cartos just seems like less hassle.

IT'S HERE IT'S HERE IT'S HERE!!! Great service from vapeescape. I've filled a carto with Grizwald's Peanut Butter (at least I think it's full - put quite a few drops in. Didn't want to chance doing the condom method for the first time at work). One batt on charge, guessing it's safe to use the other one without fully charging it - it won't damage it? I don't think I have the patience to wait for one of the batts to fully charge. And it's not too big at all, it's a great size. I'm sitting here grinning like an idiot and fidgeting in my seat like a four year old who desperately needs the bathroom. Trying to wait to let the liquid soak in a bit more before I run off to a quiet corner to give it a go. Thanks to everyone else for the welcome :-D

Dave - thanks for all the pointers!
djs - prepare to commence diluting your tea with tears - yes, it's the V3 minis that my sis says are "far too big and heavy". *shakes head* She had a go of a Skycig today, but I'm determined to get her to try the Riva. I'm meeting her on Friday and I'll have it with me. If it's a fraction as good as people say, hopefully she'll be convinced.
And no doubt in a few months I'll be wanting to give something else a try. I had to look up the Spinner... Am I going to wind up starting a collection??
Everyone else - thanks for the welcome :-) It just seems so unfair that vapescape don't have a teleporter. Why can't it be here already? I think the poor little JacVapours are going to be very neglected after the post arrives tomorrow.

Wow, brilliant! Thank you so much. It'll sound daft but although I still have a few cravings for analogues, I do enjoy vaping and really can't wait for the Riva to arrive. So I'm going to sit here like a saddo and watch those vids LOL.
